  1. I'll accept that. I made an error, confusing that Bazley was not on Hunter's team but Reddish probably did steal the spotlight from Forrester - as Stromboli corrected me above. As stated, I'll accept that it was an honest question. Just wondered if it was a little bit of "piling on" after Stromboli had already corrected my error (and you liked his post, no less).
  2. Honest question or just being an @$$?
  3. Damn (facepalm). You are correct about the teammate thing. Maybe the best recovery would be to say that he (Hunter) has been overlooked because of Bazley and that could be a motivator.
  4. Frankly, I hope that is the case. I know it's part of the recruiting business, but I think a staff can really waste a lot of valuable time jacking around with players that can't or won't be honest or decisive. (I'm not directing this at any current recruit). One of my favorite characteristics of Archie Miller is that he means business and seems to put his cards on the table. I suspect he knows how to interpret a kid's interest level.
  5. I have to wonder if Jerome is quietly motivated to shine now that he's out of his (former) teammate's shadow. Hopefully it will be like the Bracey Wright/ Deron Williams scenario (with us benefiting this time). I hope part of that shooting regimen includes time spent at the FT line - this past season showed how much poor FT shooting can turn W's into L's.
  6. Has there been any chatter about when Romeo and family are going to make the much ballyhooed final visit to Bloomington?
  7. I really like and prefer the model of having an experienced roster. Seems conducive to both winning and playing solid, consistent basketball. When you think about it, the use of the redshirt is a bit similar to back when freshmen were ineligible - they had a year to learn the system, hone their skills, and develop their bodies. I guess the trick is getting the right players, including kids that are willing to redshirt (hopefully this will mean Race T. will be ready to contribute). As someone mentioned yesterday, Clifton Moore would have really benefited by redshirting as the staff suggested (supposedly).
  8. Good info. It sounds like he plays the way we hoped Davis would play.
  9. Good question - it sure didn't happen much over the past 10 years or so. If indeed things stay status quo, it would seem to indicate that everyone is both happy with their situation and buying into what the coaching staff is asking of them.
  10. Off topic, but I had to do a double take when I saw a quick headline on the Indystar online. It said "Steven Hawking honored by hundreds at UK funeral". I was in disbelief until I realized it referred to the United Kingdom.
  11. Took a quick look on the Syr message board (it's gotta suck for them). Best comment was "none and done".
  12. Wow. Just for giggles I looked at the rosters over the past decade or so (McD Allstars ). Not only a small percentage that played in the NBA, but a heck of a lot of them didn't really distinguish themselves in college. I've never enjoyed watching that game, so I don't have any expertise on the subject, but when was the last time IU had a McD player that was a starter in the game (Zeller?)?
  13. Absolutely true. The value of being surrounded by experienced players that have had time to learn what the college game is all about, learn the respective systems, and become physically prepared for Div 1 basketball, is greater than being able to play with other (inexperienced) freshmen. Logically the choice at this point should be between us and KU - both have advantages over the other and I'd like to believe we hold an advantage. My greatest source of optimism is that the Langfords have obviously been methodical in making this decision and that Mr. Langford sure seems to indicate a preference for IU. That said, who knows?
  14. This was the thought I was going to post as I was catching up on this thread. The value of a 4th year Juwan Morgan and several other experienced players is seemingly ignored by some of those guys. The other thing I noticed from that box score is that it must have felt foreign to Reddish to only get 10 shots up for the entire game.
  15. I think it's very interesting that current IU players have shown up to watch him play several times and that Robert P was at his game with Archie. If nothing else, it shows how wanted he is at IU and reinforces a team/family approach. Heck, when a player (Freddie M.) shows up to watch and he won't even be playing with you, that's got to feel very welcoming. What, or how much it means is unknown, but the IU staff and players have gone all out to show Romeo he's wanted in B-town.
  16. I've wondered if part of the reason Romeo wants to make one more visit to Bloomington is related to training/strength/conditioning. We've heard that he already has a personal trainer but he's going to have to take it to a whole other level to become NBA ready. It seems that any questions about the coaching staff or how he'll be used at IU would be settled by now. My guess is that the planned visit is about academics and training.
  17. Thanks for sharing that. Also nice to hear how the last name is pronounced (like hope with the 'f' sound on the end).
  18. While we can understand their pain, it's not like losing a key player is unique to PU. As you said, we lost May and Henderson (who were each much better players than anyone on this year's PU team) and had our title aspirations killed. Another point is that it's not like PU was steamrolling everyone coming into the tournament - they peaked in January and were vulnerable before Haas' injury.
  19. Yep. I remember hearing all the hype about Hanner and speculation that he could be a one and done. Then, I finally got to see him play on TV in one of those April pseudo H.S. championship games (not IHSAA) and came away thinking two things: 1) he has no basketball skills, and 2) LL was one woefully coached team. I held hope that the coaching was what was holding him back, but that was not the main factor.
  20. Plot twist: DBM is actually Romeo's alias and he gave Archie the silent verbal months ago.
  21. Wow. That name is so similar to one of my professors back in the late 70's http://newscenter.iupui.edu/index.php?id=3850
  22. While I realize there is an almost invisible internet presence for VU, from what little I've seen of their boards they don't seem to react to or even acknowledge anything posted that opposes their belief that they will get Romeo (or whoever they want). I base this on the "14power" board (which should probably just be named the "14fans" board, LOL).
  23. If that were my backyard, I'd skeedaddle!
  24. For Romeo's sake, I hope this game cements the importance of making free throws. He and his team mates missed way too many in such a big game.
  25. Seems like a perfect fit. After all, Atlanta is the world headquarters for Coca-Cola. He'll have diet coke and dasani anytime he wants it.
