  1. Doc Rivers is really not one of the best in the NBA… at all. Hes responsible for 23% of blown 3-1 leads in the NBA’s entire history. He’s been living off that 2008 title for the past 15 years.
  2. The portal is closed. Dingle committed somewhere else. If we fail to land MM too, where do we turn to save our weak perimeter game?
  3. The fate of next season really hinges on his decision this afternoon.
  4. Idk, I mean, 7 of the 13 scholarship guys from last season are gone. It’s a mix of graduation/draft/transfer portal, but our team will be drastically different next season.
  5. Yeah. It’s not the actual aspect of players getting paid that I care about. It’s the chaos caused by the combo of the transfer portal and unregulated NIL money. A cap on the amount a player can make should be instituted. They have a cap in the NBA. Of course, there isn’t a cap on endorsement money and an argument could be made that that’s what NIL is, but let’s be real on that. This is just teams funneling money to players via sponsors and donors. It’s a de facto contract from a school to a recruit, so institute a cap like in the NBA. Of course, that wouldn’t work in the NCAA because schools would just go back to doing it under the table, but I digress.
  6. NIL kinda sucks. College basketball will never be the same. It’s whatever because it’s a net gain for IU, but I still don’t like it. There are so many players in college football that NIL doesn’t have the same perception to me, even though I know the top guys there are getting millions too.
  7. He was billed as the next LeBron, so he would’ve needed an Emoni Bates level collapse to fall out of the top 10. I question how much college coaches really “do” with these 5 star, McDonald’s all American types to get them to the league.
  8. Woody didn’t have anything to do with Melo becoming Melo, though. Of course, Self didn’t have much to do with Wiggins either as he came in top of his class and left after one year. Melo was a good individual player but he was selfish and had little team success in the league. Wiggins will end up making more nba money and he has a championship under his belt.
  9. Andrew Wiggins has made $172.5 million in his career and will make another $108 million over the next four years.. Oubre has made $63 million and will get another eight-digit contract this offseason. Svi was a 3 star recruit ranked 239th in his class, so not really sure how he fits in here. If anything, turning him into an NBA pick is a plus for Self. And Josh Jackson’s problems were all between the ears. Even then, he made $28 million in his short career.
  10. Yeah, I don’t think people realize that it’s not this golden goose that they think it is. Getting players to the NBA is necessary to recruit and land these 5 star talents. It gets you into the room. But the other coaches in the room get guys to the NBA too. Kentucky, Kansas, Duke, etc. have multiple guys get drafted basically every year.
  11. I have issues with both his team’s performances and his antics. It’s not an either or situation. Neither is great. If you’re cool with his antics that’s fine, but I don’t like them. Why is that a problem for you? His personality carries over into the team.
  12. Then don’t read it. Why does criticism of Tom Allen bother you so much? Not liking Tom Allen’s behavior and antics is a perfectly legitimate criticism.
  13. I just find Tom Allen embarrassing. All the other programs in the conference make fun of his spastic personality. He’s the opposite of cool, calm, and collected. He’s a goof. You’d think we just won the Super Bowl with the way he celebrates some of our in-game plays. His teams take after his personality. They’re always undisciplined and out of control. For all the rah rah he preaches, he rarely holds players accountable. They make mistake after mistake and trot right back onto the field. And don’t even get me started on #LEO. No one wants to hear you chant your catch phrase after you get beat by 50 for the umpteenth time.
  14. Neither is following him now. Maybe they never followed him, though. Paging our IG expert.
  15. Guards/wings looking rough. Really need to land studs with the last two roster spots.
  16. There’s an enormous gap between (a) “being down” on players and (b) not thinking those players are the solutions to our weaknesses next season. Banks played spot minutes last season, and Newton (111th in his class) and Cupps (89th in his class) don’t project as instant impact players. Maybe they will be one day, but it’d be silly to count on it from day one.
  17. The guy has been going around troll-reacting to all of my posts for days now, so I finally made a smart-@$$ response to him. I’ve been staying tuned for the better part of a decade and my patience is running thin. Walker isn’t even my biggest problem. We have multiple guys on this roster who I see as 10 mpg max , end of rotation guys. I don’t feel good about Leal, Gunn, or Banks, and I don’t feel good about the two freshmen coming in and being contributors next year either. So, in light of that, adding another 10 mpg guy isn’t appealing to me.
  18. Is that what you’ve learned from perusing their Instagram followers? We’ll see if you’re right this time.
  19. Yes? There’s like a thousand guys in the portal. If we can’t land impact players at positions of need, then there will be opportunities to land end of the rotation guys later on. When we don’t land players right away, the more optimistic folks point out that it’s early, that players will continue to enter the portal, and that Kansas State had two players on July 1st. Now we need to be in a rush to fill one of our few remaining scholarships with a mediocre backup big?
  20. Going after an end of the bench frontcourt player when we have big holes on the perimeter. Here is who we have at the 1-3 right now: Xavier, Galloway, Leal, Gunn, Banks, Newton, Cupps. Is that supposed to inspire confidence? It’s a guard’s game. We lost our best guard in JHS, and we also lost our best shooter in Kopp. Trey shoots well on low volume, but we were already last in the conference in attempts per game. Half our three point volume is gone. Who’s taking 3s next year? Gunn? He shot 8%. If the staff is keeping a scholarship open, I would much prefer we use both scholarships on improving the perimeter.
  21. I understand our approach perfectly fine. I don’t agree with the approach at all. It comes down to a person’s perception of the roster as it stands now.
  22. We don’t have unlimited roster space. We have three scholarships available. If they don’t plan to use the third available scholarship as has been reported, that leaves two scholarships. Doesn’t really give you much to work with to land guys for the top of the rotation if you’re going after an end of the bench guy with one of the two.
  23. Our roster isn’t good enough at this point to be rounding it off with an 11th or 12th guy. We lost 4 starters off last year’s team. The additions we make should be starter-quality, not end of the bench insurance policies.
  24. This is the level of player we should consistently be recruiting and landing. Hope they can get him.
  25. Weren’t there reports that the staff doesn’t want to use the 13th scholarship? Because if so that would mean he’s being targeted as one of our last two portal guys.
