In-home visit, you say? If you want to play for Mike Woodson, you come see Mike Woodson. Yes, I know that’s not what it means. -

Would you guys go to a steakhouse and rush the chef? Cmon. R.E.L.A.X. Let Woody cook. He’s doing his job. There's a reason y’all aren’t coaches. -

Unfortunately, there’s really no reason to believe Woodson will change. In his first 3 seasons, we’ve finished 321st, 352nd, and 355th in the country in 3 pt attempts. The game has completely passed him by. -

Even when we had a shooter, Woodson barely ran anything to get him shots. Miller Kopp shot 44.4% from 3 his last year at IU and yet he only took 4 per game. Only 3.7 per game during conference play despite shooting 45.2%. -

Boy do I have good news for you… Insiders are reporting that tomorrow Dolson is unveiling a 6th banner for Woody landing his first 2024 recruit. 4 straight years of landing at least one high school player! -

Woody made back to back tournaments. He’s doing his job. What more do you want from the guy? -

Purdue going to the final four while we’re stuck with another season of Mediocre Mike. Fire him tomorrow. -

That would be the ideal scenario and I’d happily get on board. But with what we know about Mike Woodson, I see no way he leaves voluntarily. He already acts semi-retired but gets north of $4 million a year to do it. Why give that up? The worst case scenario next year (which I see as being the most likely scenario) would be Woodson doing just enough to keep his job. I think sneaking into the tournament and making an early exit gets him a fifth season. -

Sure but a good year next year keeps Woodson here for additional years. And a ‘good year’ to this administration probably doesn’t have to be any better than Woodson’s first year. So, if you want Woodson gone, the only hope is another bad season. Folks can root however they want to root, obviously, but that’s how I see it. -

Trey, MM, and MR. The problem is that Ware was easily our best player, and he’s gone. During the 5 game win streak at the end of the season he averaged 22/13. Without him IU probably wins 10 games max last year. Will Woodson find a replacement? -

Well if the three best returning players on a team that missed the tournament want the coach back then your hands are really tied as the AD. -
There was some discussion about it on here a few months ago. I don’t remember the exact posts, but the essence from what I remember was that players knew where to go around town for ‘benefits’, summer ‘jobs’, etc.
-
We definitely don’t agree, but we may agree that why have any rules would be a great question for the NCAA. If the governing body that created the rules doesn’t care about enforcing them, why should I? The landscape is all disjointed with NIL now, but before then players were receiving all kinds of improper benefits, the NCAA 100% knew, and the NCAA looked the other way. It wasn’t in the NCAA’s interest to crack down. A football program as dominant as Alabama or basketball programs like Duke, Kansas, UK, UNC, etc. are good for their sports. IU wasn’t exactly clean under Bob Knight. But for whatever reason the post-Knight IU administration was looking for an excuse to tank the program. Look at the schools in this year’s elite eight. Illinois, UConn, Clemson, Alabama, Tennessee, Purdue, NC State, and Duke. How many of them have clean histories?
-
Like I said, this is why IU basketball is in the position that it’s currently in. Schools like UNC and Duke are much better schools academically. They were both paying players. UNC was literally having its players take fake classes. Did it fire the coach in charge? No. UNC kept him and he went to two more final fours and won a national championship. Was its academic reputation irredeemable harmed by sticking with their guy? No. It’s still considered one of the best public colleges in the country. No one gives a d*** about morals in a moral-less land like big-time ncaa athletics. Kelvin Sampson knew what college basketball was about. He knew what you needed to do to win big. And he was doing it. 3rd place in the conference and a round of 32 appearance his first year. 22-4 in his second year with a nice recruiting class signed up. Don’t hire him in the first place if you don’t want him to do his thing. If IU had concerns with the character of player he was bringing in, work with him on that. Don’t fire him. Tom Crean wasn’t exactly bringing in all Boy Scouts and Rhodes Scholars.
-
This is why IU is in the position that IU is in. College coaches were orchestrating dufflebags full of cash and IU gave itself the death penalty over text messages and phone calls. Sampson was playing big boy recruiting but IU would rather play in the minor leagues while touting its morality.

It’s inspiring to watch Filipowski after his near amputation earlier this year against Wake Forest.
-
Meh, Sampson’s ‘violations’ were nothing burgers compared to what other coaches were doing. IU could’ve doubled down and been just fine but we took the holier than thou route and are still dealing with the consequences 16 years later. Duke, Kansas, UK, etc. wouldn’t have thought twice about it. Watching Sampson in the tournament every year is a painful reminder.
-
IU has made 6 tournaments in 16 years since firing Sampson. Sampson has made 5 sweet 16s in the past 5 tournaments (IU has made 4 in my entire lifetime). What could’ve been…
-
Sampson would’ve killed it at IU. He’s built a powerhouse at Houston. A school that made the tournament once between 1992 and 2018. You could argue that IU killed its basketball program the day it fired Sampson, imo.
-
Tim Priller would’ve taken care of them.
-
I hate the sideline reports during the game. “Your team has been stinking the past few minutes. What do you need to do differently moving forward?” Just totally pointless, imo.

Look… Mike Woodson just found the perfect red to pair with his Fuente Fuente OpisX Reserva d’Chateau. He’s doing what he was brought here to do. -
Yeah they actually manage to include the ‘outside’ part. #1 in the country in 3 pt percentage. IU… was 273rd.. lol.

I remember scoffing when @btownqb said that we should recruit Braden smith and he just had 14 points and 15 assists to help Purdue to the elite 8.
