  1. If Anthony Leal is playing 23 mpg next year we will be even worse than we were this season.
  2. Obviously Mediocre Mike wasn’t mediocre as a player at IU. But missing the tournament 2 out of 4 years and never making it past the sweet 16 as a player when the teams immediately before and immediately after him won national championships makes for a nice meme. If he didn’t come off as such an unlikable guy I wouldn’t meme on him.
  3. A sense of humor? They’re jokes, Stuhoo. Jokes. Kind of like the current state of the program. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
  4. In fact, they won it all in 1976, and they won it all again in 1981. What happened during the four years in between? Mediocre Mike.
  5. Correct. It’s never happening, though, so it doesn’t matter. The boosters can buy Woodson a team that he’s too lazy to recruit himself, but they can’t buy him a national championship.
  6. Yes. Obviously he would never be fired. But I 100% would want him to ‘retire.’ He’s abandoned high school recruiting to instead put all his eggs in the transfer portal bucket. Even if that works next year, there’s no foundation for subsequent years. We’d be counting on him to hit home runs in the portal every year. And just as important, I want a head coach I can root for. I really can’t root for Mike Woodson. Not with everything we’ve learned about his approach to this job.
  7. These names are depressing. Iubb is doomed.
  8. And what they do know about the NBA isn’t great either, given their track records after their playing days were over.
  9. Woodson spending his off-season partying for his birthday like a 21-year-old instead of doing his job is frankly not surprising at all. It’s who Woodson is. Why would he change now? Him buckling down and hitting recruiting hard would’ve been far more surprising.
  10. A sweet 16 run would be a great way to send Woodson into retirement. Under no circumstances should he be brought back after next year, imo. Either he stinks and gets fired, or he saves his IU legacy by doing well and then retires.
  11. Saw this on another IU forum. UK with Calipari vs. IU. Will UK fans be called toxic for wanting Calipari fired? UK tourney appearances: 12 IU: 6 UK Sweet 16s: 8 IU: 3 UK Elite 8's: 7 IU: 0 UK Final Fours: 4 IU: 0 UK Runner-ups: 1 IU: 0 UK Titles: 1 IU: 0
  12. Louisville hasn’t even hired a coach yet so we have no idea who they’re going to end up with. And if the recent tweets are to be believed, we’re at $6 million NIL while they’re at $4.5 million in salary and $3.5 million in NIL. With salaries today, $4.5 million isn’t going to poach a top coach.
  13. With IU’s facilities, fan support, and NIL, I have a very hard time believing that Bruce Pearl wouldn’t come here tomorrow if IU called him up and offered $6-7 million a year. IU will never do that, and that’s why we will likely continue to suck.
  14. There’s plenty of ammunition on both sides of the Dusty May argument. Now we get to see it play out in real time. If he does great then sure it’ll stink for us. If he doesn’t then he dodged a bullet. If IU keeps sucking it won’t be because we didn’t hire Dusty May.
  15. If he wasn’t a manager at IU the upset fans 100% wouldn’t be acting like this right now. Folks are acting like we just lost god incarnate.
  16. There will always be other good coaches in the conference. It’s only an issue if we don’t have one.
  17. Woody will just think they’re cheering for him.
  18. I’m not mad we lost Dusty. He could’ve worked out, and the IU connection was cool, but he’s risky/unproven. I’m just mad we’re stuck with Woodson.
  19. Well we’re going to find out if Dusty can chop it at this level.
  20. The sad thing (for us) is that after 1999 and before 2011, they made 10 of 11 tournaments, won 5 conference championships, 4 conference tournaments, made 5 sweet 16s, and 3 elite 8s. Imagine what they’d do after the last 12 years we’ve had if they view their 2000-2010 as a bad period.
  21. His star is still the same. But (to the extent he’s interested) a first round exit is much better for us than a final four trip would’ve been. It doesn’t matter because our administration has worms for brains, but that’s where it’s coming from.
  22. They were IU players decades before I was born. To me? Thomas, Buckner, Woodson, etc. are guys actively ruining the college basketball program I care about. That’s all I know them as. Their legacies as players long before my time doesn’t shield them from criticism for the harm they’re causing in the present day.
  23. Absolutely! No one is going deep into the tournament every year. Upsets happen. Pearl lost today too. I’d be thrilled if we got him despite that because he has a 30 year resume. We know he’ll almost certainly be right back in it next year. We just don’t know with Dusty and I don’t like uncertainty. Unfortunately, it’s certain that Woody is our coach next year. I would much rather have May next year than him. At least May could work.
  24. I mean, in that situation I’d go with #2. Or maybe Shrewsbury. I wouldn’t love it, but I’d at least have some hope that they’d be able to wield our NIL resources to create an above average program.
  25. Man they could give the job to @Hornsby at this point and I’d be happy that Woodson’s gone. As for Collins, not really. He’s mediocre at the P5 level, which I rank below good at the mid-major level. He has some restrictions at NU that he wouldn’t have at IU, but he’s had too many just really bad seasons for me. At least the mid-major guy is unknown at the P5 level and could see their success carry over. With that said, if my options were Woodson and Collins, I’m taking Collins every time.
