  1. This is why I was against Dusty (more so against hiring mid-major coaches off one good year). Anything can happen in a single-elimination tournament. He had a great year last season but he’s still a big risk of a hire. We’ll see how he does at Louisville.
  2. Look at Payton Sparks. MAC freshman of the year. He averaged 13/9 on 59% from the field on a 20-12 Ball State team. Second team all-MAC. He came to IU and was basically unplayable. Some guys can handle the jump in competition while other guys can’t.
  3. It’s the same as with a proven coach. Someone who has succeeded at the P5 level. Can a player who’s good in the Atlantic Sun come to the Big 10 and succeed too? Certainly. But it’s a big jump. It’s not crazy for people to question whether a 6’1 point guard from the Atlantic Sun is the answer to our guard problems. It’s not like he’s a knockdown 3 point shooter, which this team desperately needs from its guards. If he’s brought in to be an end of rotation guy then sure, that might be fine.
  4. It probably would’ve helped with his inconsistencies. Crean wanted to play in the waters, and he did to an extent (Vonleh, Bryant, etc.), but he was held back by the administration. Definitely better than Archie and Woodson.
  5. His stats are basically identical to Xavier’s stats coming from Pitt. Maybe he is a mid-major guy who comes to a P5 school and excels. Those guys do exist, but they’re the exception. It’d be nice to get some proven commodities, though.
  6. They need a pep talk from Anthony Chill
  7. It wasn’t as bad last year but they still had 5 open scholarships to fill last spring. They filled those with zero guards despite going after many of them. They’ll get a couple of guards this year by necessity but I would be shocked if they’re better than what we lose in Xavier.
  8. UK fans would literally burn the UK campus to the ground if they had the 25 years we’ve just had yet somehow IU fans get the toxic label. If anything IU fans aren’t toxic enough.
  9. Those donors are why we’re getting another season of Mike Woodson, so ‘thankful’ doesn’t exactly describe my feelings toward them.
  10. Reneau is one of like 3 players on the roster actually worth paying. Odds are high, though, that well now see the same antiquated offense we’ve seen for the past three years.
  11. Did they give Archie 4 years? If no, then it’s ok.
  12. I wouldn’t go as far as to call him a hell of a coach, but he’s definitely better than Woodson and would likely have above average results here. Probably similar to at UCLA.
  13. So, Shrews in 2025? That, wouldn’t be ideal.. But I guess it’d give another year to see how he does next season.
  14. They don’t need to top 50 players, but they all really do need to be capable of being rotational players on a good team. We have 3 players on the roster right now who fit that bill. Two of them may transfer and/or enter the draft. We need a lot of help.
  15. Chill. Woodson knows he needs to make changes and he’s making them. I’ve seen a bunch already.
  16. It’s only “good news” in the sense that it’s not as bad as it could be. But Mike Woodson screwed up the roster so bad that “good news” is still an absolutely terrible position to be in. Galloway, Reneau, and Mgbako are the only three players left who we should want playing legitimate minutes next season. So we’re relying on a guy who couldn’t fill a guard spot or two last season coming off a good season to somehow find 5 starter/rotation level players in the transfer portal coming off a terrible season.
  17. And that’s really best case scenario. Unfortunate;, but that’s what happens when you’re a bad team with no depth and no high school recruits coming in.
  18. Yikes. So basically we need 5 new guys to fill a 8 man rotation. Not ideal.
  19. Dumping on the fans is a lucrative business under this regime.
  20. He’s going to try it run it back with a healthy Xavier, pass on all the portal guards, and then be reminded that Xavier can’t come back. Then after the first loss next year he’ll talk about being blindsided by Xavier not coming back for a 7th season.
  21. He’s sitting in his office waiting for transfers to show up. If you want to play for Mike Woodson, you come to Mike Woodson.
  22. And he’s making sure to screw over iubb as his final act. What a nice guy.
  23. Honestly I was more so thinking about the professional leagues with my comment and forgot about the Illinois guy. The nba didn’t suspend Kobe at all during that. That’s not happening today. The legal system will do its thing and in the Illinois case said the player could play, but post-MeToo sexual assault allegations are treated differently and I don’t think we’d see Steve Alford handle it the same way now as he did then. But in any event it doesn’t really matter because he’ll never be the coach at IU. Plus, you can get his results from someone else who doesn’t have that event in his past.
  24. The university suspended him indefinitely. He had to go to court and get a preliminary injunction.
