Is there any part of the job that Woody actually does? Like this is absolute bottle of the barrel stuff that he’s not doing. It’s legitimately like he thinks showing up ~30 nights a year on game day is his only job responsibility.

This has been his consistent answer throughout this season on most topics that aren’t “boy Mike Woodson sure was a great player at IU!” It shouldn’t be acceptable. He’s being paid $4 million a year to be the head coach at IU. Part of the job is speaking to the media and answering tough questions. Except he thinks that’s beneath him, just like he thinks of most of the job responsibilities are beneath him. He’s Mike Woodson dang it. Mike Woodson doesn’t need to answer questions. Mike Woodson doesn’t need to recruit. He’s Mike Woodson.

I despise this man so freaking much. One of the most arrogant coaches I’ve ever seen at the college level with zero of the success to back it up.

They’re fed up after 25 years of pain and suffering. We’re so far removed from ‘blue blood’ status it’s not even funny. But hey, at least we could cure the broken heart Mikey Woodson suffered when Fred Glass wouldn’t come to him for an interview. That’s what’s really important here.

“I shouldn’t have to discuss my recruiting. I feel good in my skin about my recruiting.”

If you’re a 5 star recruit, Mike Woodson’s team is the last place you want to be. Especially if you aren’t a post player. Money is the only reason to come here, and guys as good as Liam can get money anywhere. So we’ll be stuck overpaying for mediocre mercenaries.

I just can’t see that at all. If he was going to retire they’d announce it beforehand so he could get the send off he thinks he deserves. Now that our only recruit just bounced he’s just going to get boos.

I wonder if Liam came to Woody to decommit or if he did it by Zoom. Equally as important, I wonder if Woody remembered his name.

Your sole recruit decommitting 24 hours after your coach gets the vote of confidence is just horrible optics. Watch them say the fan reaction to the Woody announcement was what did it lol.

The IU syndicates will be out in droves blaming the fans for this. Because the fans complaining about the terrible coach are totally the problem, not the terrible coach himself.

I can’t root for Mike Woodson. I hate everything he represents. Arrogance. Laziness. Nepotism. Give me a coach he busts his *** 365 days a year. Not a coach who IU has to hire helpers for to the parts of the job he thinks he’s too good to do. I’ll start caring again once he’s no longer the coach.

Woodson’s first two seasons are what “down years” should be for IU. Instead, because of how far this program has fallen, they’re viewed as big accomplishments that warrant a $1 million raise. I have no doubt that another first round exit next year will get him a 5th season.

With the way college sports are changing, IU could be in danger of being relegated to some lesser league given how bad we are at basketball and football. How many other Big 10 schools have worse basketball/football results recently than IU?

It’s insane that we’re going to do things like hire a “GM” so that Woody can work even less than he already does when there are guys we could hire like Dusty May who would pour everything they have into the job.

Bob Knight, but take away all the coaching success lol.

And we get mercenaries who can’t even win games lol. The worst of both worlds. I won’t lie. I don’t like NIL at all. In theory sure, it’s not my money. Who cares. But I don’t like what it’s turned college basketball into. We’re getting guys who only come to IU because IU will pay them the most. Like you said, mercenaries. There are talented players who would come to IU for the school, particularly in the 2025 in-state class, but Woodson’s too above it all to bother recruiting those guys. He’ll just pour himself a glass of red and tell his new GM to go buy some portal players.

I don’t know Woodson personally. Maybe he’s a great guy to have a postgame cigar or two with. But the more I hear about him, the less I like him. I don’t like his approach to being the IU basketball coach at all.

This is totally speculation by me (as to the reason why), but I imagine Woodson walks around like a king despite not even doing the bare minimum at his job, while they’re busting their a***s coaching their sports and (except for Cig) making much less money. Cig and Woody seem like polar opposites in their approach and professionalism.

I don’t know how people feel the energy to still have hope at this point. My last bit of hope died last night with the return announcement. IUBB sucks and will always suck because the people in charge are fine with sucking.

There is zero chance that someone as arrogant as Mike Woodson will ever willingly step down.

It’s really simple, imo. The people in charge like Woodson and don’t care about winning. That’s the bottom line. And then they send their syndicates out to gaslight the fanbase. Not that it matters, but I won’t be spending a penny on anything IU-related moving forward. I encourage others to do the same.

You (and the rest of us) will be waiting forever for that to happen.
