I feel like there are only a handful of coaches out there who, if someone reached out to them about the job, wouldn't be interested in the job. With the resources available at IU I don't think we would have any trouble finding someone who could give us what we're getting from Crean at the very least. We can't just wait around and hope that Stevens decides to come here.

Until Glass is in danger of losing his cushy $450k a year I don't think he's going to act on Sweet 16 Crean.

IUMBB vs Wisconsin - Game Thread - 1/3/17

I could see this being a game we control throughout and win by 8-10 points. We're due for one like that. If we lose, and lose by playing like we have the past two games, this season could start slipping away.. -
I was watching the Louisville game with my sister's bf and it made me realize how apathetic I've become towards iubb. He was upset for most of the game like I would've been 2-3 years ago, but I was indifferent because it's the kind of game that I've come to expect under Crean. I still love the program, but losses don't affect me like they used to.

First game at The Hall....Suggestions?

You'll be good parking there, the lot behind Briscoe/McNutt is a CH zone and they're open for public parking during winter break. -
Carelessness.

If you go to Nick's the sink the biz fries are a must -
Is Crean staying quiet on this because he doesn't want it to affect recruiting? Seems like an obvious redshirt situation unless Collin decides to move on, which I can't see happening.

Giving every guy on the team the green light is such a Crean move.. I can't even say I'm surprised.

I'm like ~90% sure that the football stats on ESPN don't update until either the day after a game or the day after all the games for the week are done. It's really confusing though, I always get annoyed when I go to look up a guy's stats and I can't tell if it's including the game that just happened or not. With Howard I just added them up myself (not to prove you wrong, I wanted to see how close to Elliott he ended up getting). If my numbers for all of the guys who came into the week ahead of Howard are right, our guy's the #2 rusher in the league this season.
-
Those were his numbers coming into today, I think. Counting today's game he ended up with 252 carries for 1,313 yards.

I wonder what Saban would do if he went to put a kid in the game and he didn't have his jersey on.

Classes start the 9th. The Wisconsin game isn't in the student ticket package, unfortunately. -

We need a leader out there more than anything else. -
The Kansas and UNC wins will likely save us but I think it's going to be a very rocky road from here on out.

If we miss the tournament this year Crean has to go. I hope Glass at least has that expectation.

On the bright side we've got the center position locked down for the next 2-3 years. Deron is going to be big time. -

I can't stand when our players drive the lane, have a layup, and then kick it out for another brick of a 3 pt attempt -

Throwing the ball to Bryant in the post is like throwing it into a black hole. The kid can't do anything down there. -

I don't like this lineup. I'm fine with Bryant/Davis starting but we need a wing out there too. -
We can't predict the future but we can use the past to make educated guesses about what the future will hold. If I start dating a girl who has cheated on her last five boyfriends I can't say with absolute certainty that she will cheat on me, but I can look at prior history and make an educated guess. I can't say with absolute certainty that Crean will never win a title here, but I can look at his postseason history and his coaching weaknesses and make an educated guess that it's unlikely that he gets us to a final four. He's done it once in 17 years and a Dwyane Wade caliber player isn't walking through the doors to put on an IU jersey anytime soon. It wasn't fair for me to discredit his final 4 because all the successful coaches have had studs help them along the way, but I'm worried that Crean can't consistently get the elite players that you need to compete for titles. For whatever reason we seem to miss on a lotttt of our top priorities. I probably shouldn't use absolutes to make my point because you're right that it's inaccurate to say Crean has proven he can't win a championship. I didn't follow him when he was at Marquette but I haven't seen much from him in his 8+ years here that makes me confident that he's going to put it together and win a national championship. He's been here for a long enough time for me to think that what we've seen from him is what we're going to get. He has to at least get us past the sweet 16 before I start seeing him as a possible guy who can be our long-term coach and get us back to an elite level.

That's true. Why McRoberts is getting around the same number of minutes as Green/Davis/Cujo is beyond me.
