I had faith in Archie putting together a good staff but when he was talking about building the "best staff in college basketball" it kinda felt like something he was just saying because it would pump people up and get them excited. I wasn't sure if he would be able to put together a top notch one so quickly. It looks like I was wrong and I couldn't be happier.

I wonder what his son's white former all-american/national champion coach thinks about this.

Realistically you can't win no championship with the Ball traveling circus attached to your team.

I don't doubt that schools find ways around the rules, but if that's what he's talking about it seems dumb to broadcast publicly imo.

Around $3,000 per year. This article says between $2,000 and $5,000. It varies from school to school depending on the cost of living there. https://www.google.com/amp/s/amp.cnn.com/money/2015/09/04/news/companies/extra-cash-college-athletes/index.html From what I understand the amount they get for rent is equal to what room/board is on-campus. At IU it's around $10,000 for the year. I'm sure they save some of that money by living together but I'm not seeing a way that they're pocketing the kind of money Dakich is talking about.

I'd really like to know where Dan is getting his dollar amounts because the amount of "legal" money schools can pay their players doesn't come close to what he's saying. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app

Who's declaring/transferring around NCAA 2017?

I would get kind of annoyed having a completely new roster to root for every year. It's harder to feel connected to a school when the players always leave after a semester and a half. Part of what I like about the college game is seeing players grow up and improve throughout their careers. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app -

Cal must not be used to talking to parents that don't just care about the NBA lol. He's getting rusty. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app -

Did Calipari really say that about school? He's an excellent salesman so you'd think he wouldn't say something so dumb to a family that cares about education. -
Nope. I'm not sure about what they can do with academic scholarships regarding incoming freshmen, but if a player was already on an athletic scholarship the school can't take him off that and put him on an academic one to have him be a "walk-on". The kid could decide to give up his scholarship to become a walk-on and pay his own way, but the school can't give him an academic scholarship. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app

A spin on our returning roster/recruits
Hoosierfan2017 replied to WayneFleekHoosier's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
1. OG 2. De'ron Davis 3. Thomas Bryant 4. Devonte Green 5. Juwan Morgan 6. Blackmon 7. RoJo 8. Collin Hartman 9. Curtis Jones 10. Josh Newkirk 11. Freddie McSwain 12. Grant Gelon 13. Tim Priller 1. Justin Smith 2. Al Durham 3. Clifton Moore Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app -
If we somehow manage to keep OG do we still have room for Smith? Having that length and athleticism would be niceeee. Looking at the roster it looks like we're full if everyone comes back.. I would honestly rather keep OG, lose Blackmon, and bring in Smith if everyone else on the current roster decides to come back. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app

He's only 5'11? I wonder where he could go to school and be coached by a former undersized point guard [emoji848] Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app -
It seems kind of odd to me. Our season has been over for 3+ weeks, and they've known about Archie being the new coach for almost 2 weeks. I get that they want to take their time and make the right call, but there's no downside to declaring without an agent. You would think that if they were thinking about testing the waters they would've already done so. If they're both going to do it idk what they're waiting for.
