You don’t kick one of your best players off the team for reckless driving and resisting arrest. We’re not talking about rape, armed robbery, DV, etc. He made a dumb decision, assuming the allegations are true, whatever those allegations are.

Eh. Not the biggest deal. It’ll get pled out or dismissed. Doesn’t sound like he was drunk. We’ve seen a lot worse from players.

With all the talk about how bad his health was I figured we wouldn’t see him coach another team, or at least not see it for the foreseeable future. He was prepping to be an AD or whatever he was doing at IU, yet literally a year later he becomes a head coach in the Big East. I guess he could’ve had a miraculous recovery in that year, but I dunno. Strange situation to me. Butler’s very fortunate to have him.

Wish he was our coach. He’ll be great, which means Butler will unfortunately be good again.

What was up with our guy? Only two shots and 0 points.

Losing both Trayce and Race would be so brutal. We don’t seem to be in on anyone right now who could replace them.

Neither one of them is a stretch 4, and Race is the better overall player. Race shot better from three during conference play on nearly 3x the volume. On the season Geronimo shot 31% on 0.9 attempts per game, during conference play he shot 23% on 0.7 attempts per game, and he’s a career 48.4% from the free throw line. He isn’t a stretch 4. He shouldn’t be a 4 at all, but he doesn’t have the skills to be a 3 so it’s the only position he can play. If our frontcourt returns, he would need to substantially improve to start over Race.

If Fife did the things he’s accused of doing then Woodson handled it perfectly to let all the people Fife pissed off know that his kind of behavior won’t be tolerated.

I can’t overstate how happy this amount of boiler fail makes me.

Imo it’d be Woodson nudging Duncomb to the exit more than it’d be Duncomb wanting to leave IU. But that’s just a guess on my part.

I’ll be disappointed if Wittman is hired as the third assistant coach. I don’t have any particular guy I want as the third, mainly because I don’t pay attention to The Who’s who of assistant coaches. I just want an elite recruiter in the spot.

Enough time to get some head coaching experience until we’re ready for our next coach.

Wasn’t a fan of Rob the player as everyone knows so I’m not disappointed, but had zero issues with Rob the person. He always represented the university well. Hope he finds a good fit.

There’s enough blame to go around. I’m not a Dolson fan and I’m not on the Woody bandwagon yet, but it sounds like Woody didn’t really want him, or at the least wasn’t the one who hired him. @WayneFleekHoosier used the word smug a couple of days ago, and that really describes the vibe that I got from Fife. I’m obviously not around him. Never met the guy. But that’s how he came across in interviews and on social media. He had a few really bizarre social media moments this season. Now we’ve got reports of him ignoring directives from his boss, dumping on NIL in front of top tier talent, and pushing his political views on players, among other things. It’s all so bizarre that it makes him sound like a sleeper agent hired to cause chaos within the program.

The stories that have come out kind of make him seem like one though… They’re honestly so ridiculous sounding that they’re hard to believe, but I don’t have a reason not to believe them.

I don’t think we’ve seen our seeing with that frontcourt. Not even close, imho. We had bad perimeter play and nonexistent shooting this year but still made the tournament with them. Put a couple of knockdown shooters around them and I think they’d really take off.

Always good to see Gonzaga lose. They get gifted high seeds every year and their coach is scummy.

Those three are our three best players and then there’s a huge gap between them and #4. Getting them back would be huge for the team’s success next year and the program’s momentum moving forward.

Per minute/per 40 aren’t even really advanced stats lol. You can talk about how him and Kopp play different positions, but that’s an indictment of Geronimo. Didn’t he play on the perimeter in high school? He’s a 6’6 wing whose position has to be the 4 in college because he doesn’t have wing skills. Its similar to the situation with Justin Smith, though Smith was slightly bigger and a better player. It’s not an athleticism issue. Geronimo has great athleticism. He should have been able to take Kopp’s spot, but he couldn’t. We’re not talking about “Logan Duncomb isn’t any good because he couldn’t take Kopp’s spot.” Those two guys play completely different positions. Kopp and Geronimo don’t. It’s not like Kopp is LeBron James on the wing. He can’t handle the ball and he can’t really defend. So it’s not like we were getting typical “3” attributes from him. All we got was shooting, and that was suspect a lot of the time. They’re both 3/4s, and if Woody thought Geronimo was good enough to give us a big boost compared to what we were getting from Kopp, he would’ve played him more than 11 mpg. This entire conversation started because of a post about wanting to move on from Trayce and Race. A reason for moving on was given - because Geronimo might transfer in that situation. I think that’s a ridiculous reason for wanting to move on from those two. However good Geronimo is or isn’t, he isn’t as good as either player separately, and he certainly isn’t as good as the two combined. I don’t want Geronimo to leave and I haven’t said otherwise. But in a hypothetical situation like this, I’m taking Trayce/Race every time and not thinking twice.
