It's freaking Wisconsin we're talking about here, not Ohio State, Texas, Alabama, etc. They don't have some incredible in-state talent pool to choose from that should make their AD or fans entitled to 10 win seasons. Chryst should never have been fired imo. Look at his record at UW: 2015: 10-3 2016: 11-3 2017: 13-1 2018: 8-5 2019: 10-4 2020: 4-3 (covid year) 2021: 9-4 2022: 2-3 Made a bowl game every year, and went 6-1 in those. Won the Orange and Cotton bowls. I understand that he may have some drawbacks, but I'm sorry, he's as close to a homerun hire that IU is going to get.

I wouldn't be too upset with Tom Herman, however he is rumored to have a drinking problem.

I'd get more on board with Fitzgerald if I avoided looking at his last 3 or 4 seasons at Northwestern. NU would have tolerated the hazing fiasco if he was still winning 7-10 games per year.

Names I've seen thrown around within the last hour supposedly on Dolson's list are: Kane Wommack Justin Frye Pat Fitzgerald I'd be excited about any of them, although I wish Wommack was having more success at South Alabama than he's been having. Lots of reasons I'd be excited about him though.

Definitely valid, but any coach we're looking at is going to have at least one "Yeah, but...") He has a proven track record as a successful head coach at the Power 5 level, and familiarity with the B1G. That's pretty much what I would hang my hat on.

Paul Chryst would be a homerun for IU. I'd be excited about him especially if it also meant a big investment in facilities.

Hopefully the next announcement is a massive investment in our football program in terms of facility upgrades.

Valid point. The ace in the hole is that he is an IU grad, which hopefully means he'd come home whenever he's called upon.

Yeah I want that to work out so badly. I'm hopeful last year wasn't a one hit wonder for him/FAU and they're able to rack up lots of wins and do well in the NCAAT again.

I could definitely live with Fuente. Not a terribly sexy hire or one I'd be overly enthusiastic about initially, but he had a good thing going at Memphis before landing at VTech. He was reportedly pretty hamstrung with the AD at Tech, so there may be a reason he fizzled out a bit. If it was the case, he likely has a huge chip on his shoulder with a lot to prove.

Have to think Marquette is a rough matchup for Purdue with their guard play. They are such a middle of the road team without Edey and his ability to maul people.

Not gonna lie, I'm gonna be so irritated if Purdue wins the Maui Invitational and spends the whole freakin' year in the top 5. Can't shake the feeling their regular season will mirror last year. But hey, if that also means we'll sweep them before they get upset by a 16 seed then I'll take that all day.
