    2015 #IUBB Offseason Thread

Yikes, I don't know if I'm misinterpreting her tone, but that sounds pretty sarcastic to me.   I agree with it though, I don't like the excuse of "the roster just works itself out."  That's such a cop out, it's basically saying that other people work it out for you and you just think it works itself out.

Tom Crean Update from Fred Glass

Honestly, all the anti-Crean people should be encouraged by that statement.   That was a non-update if there ever was one.  He put something out at 5:00 on a Friday night that did nothing but reiterate what he said a month ago.  IMO this looks like it was meant to appease certain coaches out there who would have an interest an IU if there was an opening.   An opening not created by a firing.  Just let it all play out.

Tom Crean to Alabama Rumor Thread

He actually is.   Dan Hurley is Bobby Hurley's younger brother, and he's the coach of the University of Rhode Island.

Kentucky is in the double bonus with 9 minutes left in the first half.   ND doesn't stand a chance.

I'd rather he wins and leaves, then his daughter and I get naked.

(2015) C Thomas Bryant to IU

At this point, I think Yogi and Troy return, we add Thomas Bryant, and Crean stays put.   If that happens, I want Crean to stop forcing players to fit his style, and make his style fit his players by starting:   Yogi Blackmon Troy Hanner Bryant   Enough of this "small ball" crap that won't win.

Tom Crean to Alabama Rumor Thread

Yeah I saw that too.  Maybe that coincides with what that NeverDaunted twitter guy posted on Friday, and there will be some kind of announcement tomorrow.   I doubt it though.

Tom Crean to Alabama Rumor Thread

See I've never put much stock into the in-state recruiting being down.  Yeah we've missed on some guys, but he landed Yogi Ferrell and Cody Zeller when we were down, and fended off North Carolina, Kentucky, and Michigan for James Blackmon.   That's 3 McDonald's All-Americans from in-state over the last 4 years.  That's pretty good, and Crean deserves all the praise and credit for that.  He worked his a$$ off to land them.

The tournament is always more fun when teams you hate get bounced early.   Thank you, Cincinnati.   Let's go Hampton!

This idiot commentator is even more wrong than the refs.   That was the worst call I've seen in a long time.

omg SMU got robbed worse than I've ever seen.   I'd boycott the NCAA forever haha.

Tom Crean to Alabama Rumor Thread

Yeah the thread I'm talking about had Shaka Smart, Tom Crean, and Gregg Marshall as their main candidates, so evidently it's one of those guys.  At least according to this poster on TOS.

Tom Crean to Alabama Rumor Thread

OK well to put more fuel to this, there's a thread over on the Rivals national board about who Alabama's next coach is going to be.  In it, a well-respected Alabama insider (I know, I know) said he knows who their next coach is, and that he's currently coaching in the NCAA tournament and it will be announced after his team's exit from the tournament.    He then said to not believe any media reports you've read today, and that Alabama fans are going to happy with the next coach.    I don't know, obviously take it for what it's worth, but there seems to be an AWFUL lot of smoke on the Alabama side on this, and none from anywhere else.  That means that either 1) it's all bullsh!t and there's nothing to these rumors, or 2) it's legit and Alabama isn't playing this as close to the vest as other schools are.

Tom Crean to Alabama Rumor Thread

An Alabama insider on 247 posted Crean to Alabama is a done deal as of about an hour ago.   If I had a dollar for every time I read or heard about a "done deal" only to have it not come true, I tell ya, I'd probably have like 8 dollars or so.

    Potential fallout from coaching change

Kentucky fans get their collective panties in a bunch when you mention Billy Donovan as a possible IU coach.  They think just because he turned them down, he won't accept ANY college job.   I love it, doubt it'll happen though.  Jones is just trolling.

Is there a podcast available of tonight's radio show?   I'd like to listen and form my own opinion haha.

Are we good enough to dance?

Just some rambling thoughts going through my head on a Sunday morning.  When the Bears fired Lovie Smith a few years ago, they had a good enough record (10-6) to go to the playoffs but their postseason fate was in the hands of other teams who had to lose for the Bears to get in.    We're in the same boat.  We can't be basing any "decision" on what some team from the Mountain West or the AAC does.  When your postseason hopes aren't even in your own hands, especially after a season where you didn't get into the NCAA tournament, that's a problem.  Especially when you're a blueblood program.   I still think ultimately we get in.

    Potential fallout from coaching change

Really?  I don't think a damn thing is going to happen to them, outside of maybe 2 years probation or something.   Sad.

Are we good enough to dance?

So we didn't make any tournament last year, but make the NIT this year.   I guess that's progress?
  20. Troy hits back to back threes to open the game.                       Immediately gets taken out.  (Sorry, couldn't resist).

    PM's

So it seems like what you posted is pretty much all there is to report, right?  If we get into the NCAAs and Thon and Bryant sign with IU, Crean stays.   If both pass us over and we get beat by Northwestern on Thursday, cementing our spot in the NIT, he'll be gone.   The rest is just details that I'll never be privy to.  But I'd like a PM if I'm way off base here

    Random Billy Donovan Thought.

Valid point, but Donovan has that instant credibility IU needs to recruit anywhere.  Kids growing up in Indiana today like Kris Wilkes, Eron Gordon, Zach Gunn, etc. think just as highly of Donovan as anyone else.   Recruiting the state will take care of itself if we were to get either.

    Potential coaching change suggestions

I agree with the first part of your post.  I just don't think we're going to make a change unless they're pretty sure we can land a home run type of guy, someone like Stevens, Donovan, Hoiberg, or Sean Miller.   I'd be wiling to bet feelers have already been put out to some of those guys to gauge their interest, and if there's only a tepid response, Crean will return.

    IU vs. MSU Postgame

Jerry Palm says otherwise, and I also saw an interview with the head of the committee last year who said they look at entire body of work, how you finish the season isn't a factor.   Jerry Palm @jppalmCBS  ·  8h 8 hours ago hasn't been a factor for seveal years now. http://www.cbssports.com/collegebasketball/eye-on-college-basketball/25079791/bracketology-what-data-is-relevant-and-what-isnt … RT @ToddIckow: Is it really more important how you finish the season?
  25. AKHoosier

    IU vs. MSU Postgame

No it doesn't, and this is a very common misconception.  The committee looks at the entire body of work, from the start of the season to the end, without prejudice to how you ended the season.
