He actually is. Dan Hurley is Bobby Hurley's younger brother, and he's the coach of the University of Rhode Island.

At this point, I think Yogi and Troy return, we add Thomas Bryant, and Crean stays put. If that happens, I want Crean to stop forcing players to fit his style, and make his style fit his players by starting: Yogi Blackmon Troy Hanner Bryant Enough of this "small ball" crap that won't win.

Yeah I saw that too. Maybe that coincides with what that NeverDaunted twitter guy posted on Friday, and there will be some kind of announcement tomorrow. I doubt it though.

See I've never put much stock into the in-state recruiting being down. Yeah we've missed on some guys, but he landed Yogi Ferrell and Cody Zeller when we were down, and fended off North Carolina, Kentucky, and Michigan for James Blackmon. That's 3 McDonald's All-Americans from in-state over the last 4 years. That's pretty good, and Crean deserves all the praise and credit for that. He worked his a$$ off to land them.

Yeah the thread I'm talking about had Shaka Smart, Tom Crean, and Gregg Marshall as their main candidates, so evidently it's one of those guys. At least according to this poster on TOS.

OK well to put more fuel to this, there's a thread over on the Rivals national board about who Alabama's next coach is going to be. In it, a well-respected Alabama insider (I know, I know) said he knows who their next coach is, and that he's currently coaching in the NCAA tournament and it will be announced after his team's exit from the tournament. He then said to not believe any media reports you've read today, and that Alabama fans are going to happy with the next coach. I don't know, obviously take it for what it's worth, but there seems to be an AWFUL lot of smoke on the Alabama side on this, and none from anywhere else. That means that either 1) it's all bullsh!t and there's nothing to these rumors, or 2) it's legit and Alabama isn't playing this as close to the vest as other schools are.

An Alabama insider on 247 posted Crean to Alabama is a done deal as of about an hour ago. If I had a dollar for every time I read or heard about a "done deal" only to have it not come true, I tell ya, I'd probably have like 8 dollars or so.

Valid point, but Donovan has that instant credibility IU needs to recruit anywhere. Kids growing up in Indiana today like Kris Wilkes, Eron Gordon, Zach Gunn, etc. think just as highly of Donovan as anyone else. Recruiting the state will take care of itself if we were to get either.

Eric Bossi just said he thinks it's between Missouri and UK based off of what he's been hearing.
-
Purdue's playing well but their schedule is kind of the opposite of ours. Easier to start, ends pretty tough. They'll level out and finish in the 5-8 range, squarely on the bubble. I think they miss the tournament because of those early season losses.

I watched that game and I think Goodluck is actually pretty solid. He's bad offensively, always was, but his defense and shot blocking are pretty good and would definitely have helped us. I'd say of all the guys we missed on (Pinson, Anthony Lee, Goodluck Okonoboh) he'd be the best.

Gardner Webb up by 7 at the under 4 timeout. Wow.
-
Wow, I can't believe I'm saying this but I could definitely see us finishing 2nd in the conference this year. I know I'm getting ahead of myself but UM and MSU aren't any better than we are. Maryland and OSU I suppose are threats, but neither are that threatening.

ND stomping Purdue. Looks like the Boilers will remain the worst power conference program in the state.

This is why we don't hire Steve Alford.

Anthony Lee really stuffing the stat sheet against UNC today. 0-1 shooting and 3 rebounds. Not sure what Matta promised him but I hope OSU is at least fun for him on the weekends. -
I knew that dude was a thug, and called a spade a spade during our game with UL. So many people were saying they'd love a guy with his attitude on our team because of his "edge". Dude's a thug. A lot of their guys are.

Second that, I don't feel like making breakfast this morning. -
So, Eastern Kentucky > Illinois?

He's a pretty impressive player, but I don't know how in the world we'd find room for Ojeleye if he wanted to come. Tom Crean may want to set the all-time record for number of guys between 6'6" and 6'8" on a roster at once. -

FWIW Eric Bossi compared Juwan Morgan's game to Jamari Traylor. I like that comparison, I'd take a junkyard dog like Traylor on our team any day. I hope they couldn't be more unlike each other off the court though, given the above news. -

Yep, he's gotta be regretting his decision to not even visit us. I can't even imagine the negative recruiting Matta must have done to get him to commit during his first and only visit, especially since Lee was considering IU and Kansas, two schools with better track records of getting guys to the NBA recently. -
  So glad, Purdue fans were starting to think they were awesome too.
-
Kentucky just isn't very impressive. If they played in a tougher conference they'd probably have 3 or 4 conference losses.

Hoosier Transfers and Recruiting Targets

Yep, Crean was actually on Dakich's show over the summer and he said his biggest miss of his career at IU was Gary Harris. His biggest regret was not offering Kellen Dunham. Ugh, that 2012 class could have been so solid.
