  1. I'm not interested in going after Albrecht for multiple reasons, but it is interesting that Beilein has caved into the bad PR he's been getting and it serves him right.
  2. And this final paragraph from the AP game summary: "Oladipo had 18 points and two steals, leaving him 16 points and three steals short of becoming the third NBA player since 1985-1986 to start his career with three straight seasons of 1,100 points, 110 steals and 70 3's." With 7 games left, shouldn't be a problem. When he was recruited it was like 'who is this guy' and now we know.
  3. CTC's son has committed to play baseball at Cincy and it's a lot closer from IU to Cincy than it is from Vandy to Cincy. Just sayin'.
  4. And Iowa gets bit again: IOWA CITY, Iowa (AP) — Iowa says freshman guard Andrew Fleming has been released from his scholarship so he can transfer to another school. Fleming averaged 2.2 points and one assist in 11 games last season. Fleming says he is seeking a "better situation" for his college career. The 6-foot-5 native of Nashville, Tenn., by way of Oak Hill Academy, came to Iowa as part of a five-player freshman class, but he had trouble getting on the floor. Now 40 percent of that group is transferring, with the Wednesday news that Brandon Hutton is leaving, too.
  5. I think that's an option for the upcoming season based on this from the LA Times November of 2015: Bryce Alford has a scholarship to play basketball. Steve Alford would prefer that he did not. So, unless UCLA loses any underclassmen next season, Bryce Alford will become a walk-on, Steve Alford said Tuesday. The planned move is because of UCLA’s talented four-man recruiting class, which would put the Bruins one above the scholarship limit of 13 next season. One perk of coaching your son, Steve Alford said, is that you effectively have one extra scholarship spot.
  6. Nick's return of appreciation to everyone. Class act.
  7. PUke losing another one.
  8. Because it's Vandy! Nah, that just doesn't roll off your tongue like Because It's Indiana! On the other hand, now that we're a football school.........!
  9. And the best advice they might get is if they aren't 1 of the 60 who get the official invite.
  10. Hoosier Hills Hoops ‏@HoosierHills 11m11 minutes ago Indiana 2017 commit Al Durham will play in Kentuckiana this December with his @BerkmarHoops team in the @KingofBluegrass tourney. #iubb
  11. Here's one of their finest and she's also president of her sorority, Rho Iota Gamma.
  12. Iowa losing 4 senior starters to graduation and a really thin bench this past year. Now they're losing redshirt freshman Brandon Hutton 6'5" small forward from Chicago who's going to transfer.
  13. From the South Bend Tribune- "The athletic 6-foot-5 Riley High sophomore put up half a hundred in the Gray team’s 149-116 victory over the Red in the boys portion of the McDonald’s Michiana High School All-Star Basketball Game at Bethel College Tuesday night." 14. Is it possible to move this topic into the MLB forum so it will be in the same category as the Cardinals and Cubs threads?
  15. This is the downside to recruiting highly ranked kids. You have to expect they won't stay 4 years and make sure your recruiting pipeline stays full. This is how pUKe, Duke, UNC, UK, stay among the top ranked teams year in and year out. We brought in 3 really good freshman this past year and next year's freshmen class looks promising. We need to keep this momentum rolling into the class of 2017.
  16. What it boils down to does Troy have any interest at all in trying to make himself a more marketable basketball player by putting in another year of hard work and effort at IU to make himself better or is he already a legend in his own mind?
  17. Hova correct; my initial link was apparently 2014-2015. The following is a link to his 2015-2016 stat line. 14 ppg and 8.4 rbg. started 28 of 31 games. Also only committed 71 total fouls. http://goneosho.com/cumestats.aspx?path=mbball&
  18. Not sure we need another 3 point shooter but his FT% definitely needs work. The one thing that pure stats don't tell us is how good of a defender a player is. I thought 222 rebounds for 415 minutes of action wasn't a bad number. And roughly 35% of his rebounds were on the offensive glass.
  19. Creaned, Beliened, Izzoed, Matt'd -- is there no end? Although at PUke, they probably refer to it as PAINTer remover.
  20. Major stuff happenin' at OSU.
  21. Seeing multiple tweets that we have offered 2016 Neosho County CC (KS) F Freddie McSwain. Stats available at: http://www.njcaa.org/sports/mbkb/2014-15/div1/players/freddiemcswain0g8t
  22. This whole world of football "commitments" these high school kids make today are nothing more than an updated version of 'yes, I'll still love you in the morning' of 'it'll help clear my acne'. When the kid shows up on campus ready for practice or the classroom, then I'll consider him committed.
  23. He's a guard. Reinhardt is the third USC basketball player to transfer in the last week, joining forwards Malik Martin and Darion Clark. But Reinhardt’s comes as the biggest surprise. He started 18 games last season — more than half of USC’s season. Guard Elijah Stewart, who also started 18 games, was more often in the starting lineup late in the season, but Reinhardt logged similar minutes in the sixth-man role. He averaged 11.4 points per game. Reinhardt’s departure could be a reaction to USC’s crowded backcourt. Shaqquan Aaron, a transfer from Louisville, is expected to play a significant role next season. USC will also add talented guard recruits Jonah Mathews and De'Anthony Melton, who each could make an impact early. USC also returns Stewart and starting point guards Jordan McLaughlin and Julian Jacobs. Reinhardt played his freshman season at Nevada Las Vegas before transferring to USC. In part, he said, he felt like he fit better in USC Coach Andy Enfield's offense. If Reinhardt graduates, he will be eligible to play his senior season immediately.
  24. I also think Hutch was absolutely spot on. My concern is whether or not JBJ is going to be the same player after a 3rd knee surgery. I fully expect him back as a starter at the start of the season but wonder if he'll still be starting at the end of the season. Otherwise, I agree with Jaybob's starting 5.
  25. For the benefit of many of us who skipped Latin: In medicine, an avulsion is an injury in which a body structure is forcibly detached from its normal point of insertion by either trauma or surgery (from the Latin avellere, meaning "to tear off").
