I don't want to derail the De'Ron Davis thread or that of Curtis Jones either, where optimism is high, and rightfully so, about what they can bring to our team next season. BUT, I hope many of you are keeping in mind that if CTC is not the IU basketball coach next year that it's possible neither will be wearing candystripes in Assembly Hall. I want to see Glass make a change. However, in this day and age, the next coach could be facing every bit of a roster makeover as did CTC when he took over in terms of numbers (emphasis on number not quality) of players that leave the program for whatever reason. Now, should a certain coach presently affiliated with the Boston Celtics land our job, that makeover would likely be far less traumatic.

PITT Transfer Josh Newkirk is headed to IU!
Class of '66 Old Fart replied to Sam_Boger's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
I thought he could start full practices with the team in January if healthy, but he could not play until next year. -

(2016) PF De'Ron Davis to IU
Class of '66 Old Fart replied to ccgeneral's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Best I could find: 12/01 Overland defeated #4 ranked George Washington 86 - 79; Davis with 26 pts. 12/11 Overland defeated Chaparral 76 - 39 getting 25 pts. from De'Ron on 10 of 15 shooting. Overland is ranked #1 in Colorado class 5A. Through 3 games, Davis is averaging 18.7 pts., shooting a ridiculous 73% from the floor; he's averaging 9 rebounds/game. -
So Sampson was the best caliber we could get? And the same for CTC? Ouch!

http://www.indystar.com/story/sports/college/indiana/hoosier-insider/2015/12/12/iu-commit-grant-gelon-dealing-bigger-target/77224980/ Bit of a fluff piece by Osterman in today's Indpls. Star. -
The day will come when the headlines read: Crean gets creaned and canned!

I only got to watch the last 10 minutes of the game after it was well out of hand and it was clearly inferior competition but one thing that did jump out at me in the stats was the fact we did have 21 assists on 40 made buckets. As for MSB, does the way he's been treated in the blowout games suggest CTC is trying to push him out the door? Do we have any insight as to how MSB is treated at practice by CTC?

(2018) PG Robert Phinisee to Cincinnati

McCutcheon defeated Kokomo 75 - 41 led by Phinisee's 31 points. -
Defense? We don't need no stinking defense! We got shooters!

WHEW! Ladies pull it out 65 - 56 led by Cahill and Gassion both with double - doubles in points and rebounds and Buss with 21 pts. Terrific job on the boards with 19 offensive rebounds but their field goal shooting was abysmal. No one shot the ball well from the floor but as a team they were deadly on their free throws making 23 of 27.
-
OVERTIME Tied at 52. Ugly 4th quarter as both teams went for over 4 minutes without scoring a single point. We're only shooting 30% from the field and only 1 of 14 on 3's. Making 19 of 22 free throws is the only thing that's kept us in the game.
-
Strange 3rd quarter, but at the end of 3, the Lady Hoosiers have taken the lead at 46 - 45. They were down by 11 at one point and shooting horribly from the field but have made 16 of 18 free throws. Midway through the 3rd they started full court pressing and forced several turnovers that resulted in IU taking the lead towards the end of the quarter..
-
Struggling against Samford and trail 30 - 24 at halftime. Only shooting 31% from the floor and 0 for 10 from 3 pt. land. Samford shooting 48% from the field and 1 of 11 on 3's.
-
Slow start for the ladies. Trail 20 - 14 at the end of the 1st quarter.

Game televised on Big Ten Plus; radio coverage at http://mgmt.firststreaming.com/listen/player.php?callsign=WHCC_FM After tonight the ladies become road warriors with 10 of their next 14 games away from AH.

I don't think many of you fully understand the importance of 'deflections' (not to be confused with 'defections') to our team. One definition I found for the word 'deflection' is: "a turning aside or deviation from a straight line." Therefore, if JBJ steps aside so his man can make a straight drive to the bucket, JBJ has 'turned aside' and is therefore credited with a deflection. Or, if Troy holds his position and his man drives around Troy while Troy is yelling "ole", Troy too is credited with a deflection because he caused his man to deviate from a straight line to the bucket. Keep this is mind the next time you hear number of deflections being lauded in a post-game interview.
