Class of '66 Old Fart

He's a blue-collar, hard-nosed kid with a good basketball IQ.  Not the most athletically gifted basketball player but very glad he's on our team.

    l like the muscular definition that's already evident in O.G.'s shoulders and biceps.  Wish we still had Je'nay Jackson on board to work with all 3 but especially with Juwan and Thomas who will need to 'muscle up' for the rigors of B1G basketball.

Nice words to hear, but things happen and the only sure things in life are death and taxes but let's hope we do indeed get to enjoy 2 years of Thomas.

From the video I've watched, Bryant has that instinct for the ball that I see in Holt but don't see in HMP.  It's almost a sixth sense ability to be pro-active vs. reactive if that makes any sense.  

And I'll bet you think the Easter Bunny is real?   :shout:        It would be wonderful if we did but I'm not holding my breath.  In fact I think he potentially becomes the odd man out in the rotation.

Now that that's out of the way, who's the next to leave to open up a scholarship for him?  When will we learn what next year's plans are for Yogi, Troy and JBJ?  Inquiring minds want to know.

All of the air on the planet has just rushed to the cosmos as the IU nation breathes a collective sigh of relief.

I'm just nervous as hell that it continues to drag and the longer we go with no announcement from TB the more nervous I get.  I just have this awful feeling he's waiting on that 'better offer'.   Maybe there's sound reasons for him to wait until after the April 2-4, tournament, but from everything he's reported to be saying, why wait?  I'm old and cranky and my digestive system can't handle all this stress. 

I don't think the size of the buyout makes any difference whatsoever.  With the amount of unrest among the fans and the mediocre past 2 seasons if CTC were going elsewhere other than by his choice I think that announcement would have already been made.  Why allow players to leave the program that might otherwise stay if CTC were gone?  He's reportedly been working the recruitment trail and you don't let him keep recruiting kids if you're Fred Glass and you know he's gone.  And while some might say his staying or going hinges on Bryant's announcement (whenever that is)  I can't buy into that argument either.  Bryant is not LeBron James or Tim Duncan.  He can possibly make a huge positive impact next season but I just don't think Glass is the kind of guy who would make a decision about the head coaching position based upon the decision of a single recruit.  And today I'm still old but I'm not cranky because I've had my afternoon nap!

Too much airplane expense flying all over the US to repeatedly watch recruits we'll never get.  There are more than enough quality basketball players in IN and the surrounding states.    Small towns like to say 'Shop Local' and I think that's what we should be doing more of in our recruiting.

Breaking news.  This just in.  Fred Glass has announced that CTC will remain as head coach of IU for 3 more years at which time Jim Boeheim will become IU's head coach.   :laugh:     Hoosier nation, be careful what you wish for.

It's just my opinion that if there's to be a change the deal has already been struck and there won't be a wait until July because of the need to get a new coach on board and on the recruiting trail.  To wait will put IU in much the same position the IU Women's team was put in when Miller was terminated.

If there's to be a change I expect we'll know within 72 hours.   These types of decisions are usually announced very shortly after the season ends.  Same applies to potential player transfers.

Is he or isn't he going to be our coach next year?  I have no idea but one thing seems odd to me.  Did I not read that CBS has been granted behind the scenes access to our program for however long we last in the tournament?  If that's correct, would the AD and the head coach be agreeable to such a thing if the head coach was leaving?   And maybe the whole access thing was just a dream from one of my afternoon naps we old and cranky people take.

Girl's basketball team in northern Indiana got beat 60-7 this week and that just might be awfully close to the final score today.

I hate it too, but let's be realistic.  Why would a football stud want to come to Bloomington after what we're witnessing this year not to mention what we've witnessed for what seems to be the last hundred years.  You don't think Tevin Coleman isn't wishing he were playing somewhere else?

And how can you truly blame him.  If you're a stud QB, would you want to play for IU after all the years of sub-mediocrity teams we've fielded?  Look at Tevin Coleman.  A fantastic running back who's not going to get the collegiate recognition he deserves because of the team he's on. 

SOS!  MAYDAY!  CODE BLUE!  Oh what the heck, it's just another typical IU football season.

Wish him the best and hope he's able to work his way into meaningful minutes.  Brad Stevens and Danny Ainge aren't stupid so there's something they saw in his year overseas and his summer league play.  Seems like it's been forever that we've had this many IU players on NBA rosters all at the same time.
