  1. Good or bad, it will give us something other to discuss than the debate.
  2. Wayne, you should consider changing your avatar. LOL
  3. Justin Albers ‏@Justin_Albers 1m1 minute ago Indiana, USA BREAKING: 2017 F Justin Smith will announce his decision tonight. Indiana or Villanova. Time not yet determined Hope Albers knows what he's talking about with certainty.

  5. North Side's Austin Boucher transfers to prep school in Maryland By Justin Kenny, jkenny@news-sentinel.com Monday, September 26, 2016 3:57 PM Guard Austin Boucher has transferred to a prep school in Maryland, his father confirmed on Monday. The 6-foot-1 junior had recently been declared ineligible for varsity competition by the Indiana High School Athletics Association after transferring from South Side to North Side following his sophomore year. Instead of electing to compete in the 2016-17 season at the junior varsity level, Boucher decided to head to the East Coast and attend St. James Prep School in Hagerstown. "He could have played junior varsity, but we felt like he had to play," said Austin's father Joel Boucher. "It is a good opportunity at one of the top academic schools in the country." Boucher played his first two seasons at South Side, showing off his tremendous scoring acumen and terrific ballhandling. In his final game as an Archer last March, Boucher scored 54 points in a 110-104 loss to Muncie Central in sectional play, the fifth-most points ever scored in an Indiana high school tournament game. Boucher transferred to North Side this past summer, but South Side did not sign off on him being immediately eligible for basketball. The IHSAA ruled similarly after the case was taken to the state level. There is a possibility that Boucher - who is top five academically in his class - returns to North Side for his senior season. "That might be what happens, but we will leave it up to (Austin)," said Joel Boucher about a potential return. With just a single Division I offer from Ball State, the belief is a change of geographical location could help recruiting heat up. "Things may go so well out there he doesn't want to leave," Joel Boucher said. "I think this gives him the opportunity to be recruited by some East Coast schools."
  6. Patrick Finley - Chicago Sun Times: ARLINGTON, Texas — Jordan Howard went from rookie to featured back in less than three quarters Sunday. Depending on Jeremy Langford’s ankle, it could stay that way for a while. Howard was the Bears’ leading rusher against the Cowboys, totaling 45 yards on nine carries, including a 36-yard gallop. “It felt good being out there but at the end of the day you always want to win,” the Indiana alum said. “None of that even matters. I feel like I played O.K., but I want to win." Any excitement generated by his spark was dulled when Langford left the sideline and was taken to the tunnel with what the Bears called an ankle injury. Wearing a walking boot on his right foot after the game, Langford echoed coach John Fox, saying he was unsure about the extent of the injury. Howard appears to be the next in line, with Ka’Deem Carey staying in Chicago because of a hamstring injury suffered Monday. “He’s done a really good job since he’s been here,” guard Kyle Long said. “We’ve got a bunch of good backs. We just have to block for them. You give them an inch and they’ll take a mile.” Howard said he’d be ready to be the featured back, if needed. After showing flashes in a brief appearance against the Eagles, Howard has proven to be the team’s most exciting back in the past two games. “I don’t really feel like it’s a challenge, because (Langford), Ka’deem and (Jacquizz Rodgers), when he was here, they all helped me get up to speed pretty quickly,” Howard said. “They’re the reason I was able to process so fast, because they helped me out tremendously. “I feel like I’ll be able to handle it, but I’ve got I’m going to have to get other people up to speed too.”
  7. If I remember from last year it was about 6 weeks before the event and follow Stuhoo's advice and buy in the ND section if you want good seats because their fans don't support this event. Worked for me the last 2 years. mdn82 hit it on the head that you can't get good IU seats unless you're a season ticket holder.
  8. And Dakich is killing Luck on Twitter.
  9. BLEACHER REPORT: Following the team's disappointing 2-2 start to the 2016 season, the LSU Tigers reportedly fired head football coach Les Miles and offensive coordinator Cam Cameron on Sunday, according to The Advocate's Ross Dellenger and Fox Sports' Bruce Feldman. Miles, who took over the program in 2005, leaves Baton Rouge, Louisiana, having won the second-most games in school history (114). He had a bright start to his LSU tenure, winning the Sugar Bowl in his second season and the BCS National Championship in his third year on the sideline. The Tigers haven't reached those heights again, though, and after Saturday's crushing 18-13 loss to the Auburn Tigers, Miles' ouster was only a matter of time. Bleacher Report's Barrett Sallee thought the decision should've been made long before the year got underway:
  10. ND fires defensive co-ordinator but he may not be the sole problem. Interesting read from Doyel: Indpls. Star - Doyel Column on Brian Kelly
  11. Played AAU ball for Baltimore Elite on the Adidas circuit but for whatever reason, I can no longer access the 2016 player statistics plus there's no statistical information on MaxPreps as well. By chance, today's Baltimore Sun has an article that indicates he was named Baltimore's All-Metro player of the year. Baltimore Sun POY Article Another article about him on a pUKe site that says he averaged 17.7 points, 3.9 rebounds, 2.9 assists and 1.5 steals per game as a sophomore. pUKe Article John Carroll HS must be quite the athletic powerhouse. In addition to Quickley, we've followed his teammate Nate Roberts '18 (PF). On the football side, we're recruiting Devin Darrington '17 (RB) who attended John Carroll last year before apparently transferring to Bullis School for his senior season.
  12. One small ray of sunshine - we are 2-1. How do you think the Neuter Dome fans are feeling at 1-3 with 2 of their losses coming in the shadow of Touchdown Jesus.
  13. Gone all day and couldn't watch or catch it on radio but it sounds like maybe we're not a football school after all?
  14. July 10, snippet on a Nevada website: 2016 Nevada Wolf Pack signee Kenneth Wooten announced that he has reclassified and will be a part of the 2017 recruiting class. Wooten made the announcement of his reclassification on ScoutHoops and to see his announcement, here is the video. The 6-foot-8 forward Wooten signed with the Wolf Pack in November before he had a spectacular season year at Mantec High School where he averaged 14 points and 11 rebounds. Wooten left Manteca high school before graduating and enrolled at Trinity International Prep School in Las Vegas in May. Wooten’s status for the 2016-17 season was in limbo but with this announcement, Wooten plans to re-open his enrollment but remains committed to Nevada. With Wooten’s reclassification, the Wolf Pack’s 2016-17 recruiting class is down to two players: point guard Devereal Ramsey and wing player Josh Hall. Time will tell if Wooten will keep his commitment to Nevada and given what he said in the video announcement, I believe that he will honor his commitment to the Wolf Pack.
  15. It's a kiss of death to be a kid's first commitment in college football.
  16. Luck has been tagged as 'Questionable' for Sunday's game. For this season, the NFL changed its categories: Previously, the "questionable" category reflected a 50-50 likelihood of playing, and "doubtful" meant a 75-percent chance the player wouldn’t play. Now, "questionable" simply means that "it is uncertain as to whether the player will play in the game," and "doubtful" means that "it is unlikely the player will participate." According to NFL injury-reporting guidelines, players considered questionable for a game have a roughly 50 percent chance of playing in the game. The NFL eliminated “probable” as an option on injury reports this season. But coach Chuck Pagano on Friday said Luck would play Sunday against the San Diego Chargers, insisting the NFL's highest-paid player is fine. Indpls. Star
  17. From Jeff Borzello at ESPN. I don't know if Teri Moren is joining the boycott or not. Many coaches boycotting fall evaluation period over recruiting calendar Women's basketball coaches from many Power 5 programs are not on the road this weekend for the fall evaluation period in protest of the recruiting calendar as well as the rising costs of event packets. There is a three-day evaluation period beginning on Friday that allows coaches to travel and watch prospects at tournaments and events around the country. Beginning in the summer, coaches from the major conferences began discussing a potential protest of the evaluation period, with each conference making a decision on its own. "What we're doing, we're looking at changing the recruiting rules to not having a fall evaluation period," Notre Dame head coach Muffet McGraw told ESPN.com recently. "More of a point, let's get some data. Are you willing to not go out this September? Everybody is making their own decision. Every conference is polling their own people. A byproduct of it is certainly the economics of it." SI.com reported on Friday that the price of event packets -- books that generally include rosters, phone numbers, player information -- is one of the reasons for the protest. There has been an issue with packet prices on the men's side as well, but the prices are even higher in women's recruiting. Sources told ESPN the average price of a packet at women's recruiting events is nearly $600 per school per event, with an additional fee if a second coach from that staff arrives later. "Coaches in this time, we're trying to be fiscally responsible," McGraw said. "We don't want to spend any more money than we have to. We have to balance the budget on the women's side. We're making some money in attendance. We're always trying to find ways to help out." McGraw said the primary reason for the discussion is the recruiting calendar itself. There are two evaluation periods in April, plus an event held in the host city of the women's Final Four. Then there are two seven-day evaluation periods in July, plus the three days in November. On the men's side, there are two periods in April plus three in July, and zero during the fall and winter. "We saw a lot of kids in July. We want to be with our team. September is a terrible time. It's the worst month," McGraw said. "Home visits, official visits, unofficial visits with underclassmen, and trying to get our practice in, and trying to be with our team. There are so many other things that we're doing. It's more important to be on campus with our team. Is it that important to see '18, '19, '20? Seniors aren't going out; they're busy taking their official visits." According to SI.com, there will be a vote in April to eliminate the September evaluation period as well as one of the April evaluation periods.

Then shortly thereafter this from 'Nova which suggests they won't appeal. Villanova announces Omari Spellman not eligible for 2016-17. Will take an academic redshirt.
  21. The Pats are 3-0 without Tom Brady; the Colts are 0-2 with Andrew Luck! Go figure!
  22. If there's swelling, I believe they have to get the swelling reduced before they can do an MRI.
