You are more generous than I. One year is not going to gain my trust. Two years of consistent good play, and tourney results will be a start. I bought completely into Crean for the first 1/2 of his tenure, the last 1/2 has been underwhelming, and I need back to back good years before the bad taste has left my mouth. :)

UMMMM your timeline is a little off. Davis took off the interim tag the year before we went to the FF. He has given an extension afterwards, but he had already been hired. I do agree, though, that we need to finish this season off. Don't have to win the NC, but if we lose the next 4 games......

I think Gard's situation is a lot different than Davis'. Davis started with two All Americans on the team: Jefferies and Haston. Gard's best player is Hayes, and he certainly is not AA. I think another big difference is that Davis had the full season with the team. Knight was fired before the season started. Gard took over 1/2 way through the season, and the Badgers had been awful to that point. It is yet to be seen what kind of success Gard will have. Heck, he may not even be the coach next year....

I have read a lot, that no one really expects him to get drafter in the top 1/2 of the draft. No one is predicting him to be more than a career back-up. Maybe we have been letting our hoosier support cloud our judgement on just how good he is. :(

The coaching job is certainly one of "what have you done for me lately" views. In that regard Coach Crean has delivered so far this year. The vast majority of us thought the season was lost after Maui and the Duke game. Since that point in time, though, the team has really come together. I know we are towards the end of the season, but Heaven Forbid. IU loses the next 4 games. We will be right back at the FIre Tom Crean discussions. Let's just wait for the entire season to unfold.

I would hope so! Off season crap is becoming a norm that we should not have.

2017 IUFB Class Ranking
jmsgws replied to hoosierwhodey's topic in Indiana Football Recruiting Forum
Just another example of the small but steady improvement Coach Wilson is making with IU football. In the past we never had enough early recruits to even sniff a top 25 ranking. Hopefully we can hold onto these kids! -
I think the top 5 teams in the B1G are pretty darn good this year. The difference is the bottom 4 or 5 teams are awful! I think you are right on in your outlook on Crean. He is certainly doing something different this year.
-
Just win. That is all we have ever asked of any coach.
-
I don't see Crean or Fran getting it unless their respective team wins the B1G. I think it is Gard's to lose.

The reality is that most of us would accept a defense 1/2 as good as our offense. All we need is average on that side of the ball, to be good. If we ever get the Defense as good as the offense; we move into the great category.

Jason Spriggs OT - Green Bay Packers

I admit to not understanding everything, but I think the running back has a lot to do with the "life expectancy" Every team wants a stud running back, but I vaguely remember reading somewhere that the average running back lasts only 3 years in the NFL. Teams do not want to draft them really high, because of the salary the first couple of years, and they are injured so much, that there is no bang for the buck. I know there are exceptions to every rule, but I think that is the biggest difference. -
Those exact words leave our mouths frequently during the season!

Day two of Sturgeon Spearing is in the books, and so far with the exception of the friends, and the Bloody Mary's it has been an abysmal season. Using cameras we have been able to see plenty of sign the sturgeon had been in the area. (they make a big hole in the mud when they eat. ) Plenty of the fly larvae they feast on in the mud. Just no sturgeon. In fact after 12 hours on the ice, we have seen exactly 3 minnows, 2 shad, 1 northern drum. It seems like we set up on the Saraha of the lake. Hardly any life has been visible. Oh well, most people aren't having any luck either. It is looking like the season will go a full three weekends. So I will get one more chance.

It was minus 5 when we got out on the ice this morning, but the ice houses all have a pretty good heater in them. Two years ago it was -22 with 20 MPH winds while we were spearing and we wore coats inside the ice house. Today, I sat there in my IU fleece jacket.

If it were not for the alcohol I could not do this sport. This has been my view for the last 2 hours. And I have 4 more to go. [emoji3] Sent from my Nexus 6 using Tapatalk

I always thought Priller was the human victory cigar.

I happen to agree with you, especially in regards to Crean coming back next year. He will; barring something incredible happening in the coming months. I just don't see Glass firing Crean after this season unless something incredibly bad happens. That being said, I can also see the other side as well. The old saying even a blind squirrel finds a nut once in a while comes to mind. :) What happens though if he finishes top 4 in b1g, and only makes it to the 2nd round of the NCAA's? Has he done enough then?
