  1. What has people in Wisconsin reeling is that Bo had been hinting about staying on longer.  I am sure Bo and Alvarez had been talking a lot, but for the fans this came as a complete shock.
  2. I think only when the Coach has someone he wants to fill his shoes.  Unless of course there are health issues.  In Bo's case he has made it really clear he wants his Assistant to get a shot at being Head Coach.  If he waited until the end of the season to retire, Alvarez would have to do a national search, and would probably not look at the assistant.  If Alvarez is smart he will do a search anyway, but then at least Gard gets to try and show what he can do.  I think it is going to be a losing proposition, though.  The Badgers are not good this year.  So unless Gard pulls a miracle out of his butt, he will be the head coach of a losing team.
  3. Ryan stepping down is coming to a shock to those of us in Wisconsin. The feeling was at least he would do what he pledged and finish put the year. I won't miss the stranglehold he had on IU. But I admit. I was looking forward to watching him coach a couple of more games this year. Sent from my Nexus 6 using Tapatalk
  4. Probably right.  I was thinking maybe Oakes and Howard.
  5. This may sound like a dumb question, but....  I wonder how many more All Americans we might have had, if we had finished 8-4 or 9-3 instead of 6-6.
  6. Feeney also was awarded ESPN 1st Team All American Status: http://espn.go.com/college-football/story/_/id/14356641/clemson-alabama-baylor-lead-2015-all-america-team
  7. That is one the smartest things I ever seen you say!
  8. I know this article is kind of a marketing ploy to get people excited about the bowl coming up.  That being said, I really liked the comments about Coach Wilson.  http://iuhoosiers.com/news/2015/12/13/FB_1213155859.aspx
  9. I guess it is not quite as bad as I thought, though.  I thought sections 26-30 were student seats as well.   I also have to remember the "alumni" side of the stadium is quite a bit taller.  So capacity wise maybe 30 - 35% is student?  I thought closer to 45%.
  10. The student section is almost 1/2 the stadium. I don't remember having to buy football tickets to get basketball tickets.  That could have been the case, though.  I just know football games were some of the most fun I had as a college student.  I enjoyed those Saturday's even better than basketball games. Mainly because it was an all day thing.  We started with a screwdriver breakfast, tailgate for a while.  Then the game.  Then almost always a party that night!
  11. Yes I was going back to that time period.  I think back then, it was easier to get fans to the game.  There were not nearly the choices to watch as there are now.  Big Screen TV's were an anamoly.  The internet didn't exist. The TV production was basically one view of the field the entire game.  If we could not sell out consistently then, I don't think we will be able to consistently sell out the stadium today. The basketball was certainly a lot better then, but the season hadn't started until the last week or so of the season, so I don't think BB ever played much of a factor.
  12. I sent a message to the President of the NYC IU Alumni Club this morning.  He will be updating the IU Alumni Association Facebook page with details on events for Hoosiers before and after the game.  If I find anything out, I will also come and post details here.  Hope we have a great crowd.
  13. I always thought capacity was in the 60's. After the north end zone. After hearing the capacity then we have a big problem with people buying tickets and not going to the game. Because the stadium most times doesn't even look 1/2 full. :). Thanks for the correction. Sent from my Nexus 6 using Tapatalk
  14. I am not sure IU will ever consistently fill the stadium   We didn't do it when we had the short history of winning, so not sure we can do it now.   I do think we can consistently get in the mid to high 50's for attendance, and I think that would be pretty darn good.  I would really like to see us get where students have a problem getting tickets, as that would mean we have changed the culture for good, and means that football is finally a fore thought instead of an after thought.
  15. No that is probably reserved for the Cooks or someone that donates a lot of money! That would be pretty cool, though.
  16. I'll be there.  Got my apartment all lined up next to Central Park!  No idea what section I'll be in.    The IU ticket office is great.  I originally bought the tickets under my account for my father and I.  After I bought them I learned the tickets will be handed out based on priority points.  Well my Dad has been a season ticket holder for almost 30 years so needless to say he has a lot more points than I.  I called the ticket office, and they switched the tickets from my account to his!  Hopefully that means A LOT better seat.
  17. You and I are certainly of the same generation, because I started thinking about my list, and when I got to yours, you saved me a lot of typing!
  18. My Dad and I are as well!
  19. Sounds like a plan. Sent from my Nexus 6 using Tapatalk
  20. I just booked my flights and bought my tickets for my Father and I to watch the Hoosiers play in NYC!!!   He is 78 years old.  He was hoping for a warm weather bowl, but he figures he may not get another chance! :)
