  1. I have a Trentyn Flowers story that some of the MOD’s might remember from a few years back: When Woody was recruiting Rakease Passmore I went to see him and Combine Academy his junior year at a showcase event. Trentyn Flowers was a teammate of his that year, something like the 4th high school he’d gone to. By blind luck I ended up sitting next to Flowers’ parents. Figured that out when he came over and gave Mom a hug. They couldn’t have been nicer folks. They talked my ear off the entire game. When I asked about his recruitment, because what the hell, Mom said that if it was purely a basketball decision it would be Creighton because they loved McDermott, they loved the facilities and the offense and Trent felt really comfortable there. But, it wasn’t going to be Creighton because, as Dad flat out told this stranger, “They don’t have nearly enough money.” He made it 100% clear that the biggest check was the only factor. He thought it was gonna be KU but the process was ongoing. They were as transactional as it gets. Then U of L swept in with, presumably, the biggest check and Flowers reclassed to ‘23 and committed. He was on campus for a couple of months before he split for the Australian League. So, I believe he’s 20 and has played for 4 high schools, was on a college campus, played in the Australian League and has been with a couple of NBA orgs. Long way of saying, if you were gonna bet on what 2-way guy would break the barrier and take the college money and run, this is probably your guy. Here’s the thing: he really looks the part and he’s a talented kid but he’s not particularly good. He flashes everything you want but with the exception of a short stretch in the ABL he’s never actually done it anywhere. If DDV is looking at this, ok, I guess, but I really don’t know what you should be expecting.
  2. Was surprised how much he played off the ball. Maybe just a function of playing someone they could’ve named their score against. Can’t imagine that in actually competitive games he doesn’t have the ball.
  3. I’m sure it’s possible to be more passive defensively than Georgia Tech is right now, just not sure how. Maybe play 10 guys?
  4. You just needed to say the word and a CTA-coached DB blows a tackle and there it is.
  5. Oh look, Notre Dame’s 2nd best win just lost to East Carolina. Yeah, such a field weakening travesty that they weren’t a playoff team.
  6. Don’t know what anybody paid to sit in an awkwardly configured stadium in crappy weather in late December to watch this utter turd of a game, but, man, God love their hearts. They’re better fans than I am.
  7. Thanks so much for posting this. Was looking for something interesting and this works all day, though the camerawork is pretty headache-inducing.
  8. The East Carolina kicker just left a 51 yd fg attempt close to 10 yards short and the announcers are trying to blame it on the wind. I must have missed that hurricane that is evidently hitting the east coast.
  9. Try not to spit take with shock, but Diego Pavia is trying to foist his $hittiness onto us for even more seasons.
  10. From his original CTA IU scouting report: 6’1” but has the eye level of a 6’3” player. Having eyes above his hairline requires the player to keep his head shaved or has vision impairment. Problem could take care of itself over time.
  11. This is a pretty damned interesting question. Jokic is becoming a Rorschach test for how someone sees the game. How do you rate the greatest offensive center ever who’s an above average rebounder and at best an average defender?
  12. OKC now 26-5 vs SA 0-3 with two bad double digit losses vs rest of the League 26-2
  13. I swear. “Declared for the draft”? He played 4 full college seasons at 3 different schools.
  14. Got to give credit where it’s due, when the portal stuff popped up Calipari basically called exactly what’s happening and said something to the effect of, “We’re gonna find out quick which coaches actually like developing players.”
  15. Nice article and filled in some gaps. Of all the coach/school marriages that popped up this cycle Penn St/Campbell always seemed just straight obvious. Couldn’t figure out the deal there. Now we sort of know.
  16. The only threshold left to cross is a kid who’s actually played NBA games. Such a shame.
  17. Matt Barnes making sense on the current college landscape. Kyrie Walker, you’ve got to be kidding me?
  18. Big win. I think that dude is really good and the difference between Brohm and Moore is the difference between shooting a bullet and throwing it. Needs to stay at the alma mater.
  19. Haven’t listened to it yet, but since Woj and CTC are really smart guys I imagine this will be a good listen.
  20. Folefac is not finishing his career at Siena. That frame and those hands and feet. Couple of years from now that kid’s gonna be pretty good.
  21. Did Day call plays during the playoffs last year?
  22. Yeah, the shot. It wasn’t a problem before but sometime between the end of EYBL and now that kid found a shooting coach. Stroke looks great.
  23. Nothing about the Jets rates that kid. And the Raiders fired Kelly as OC, right? So they’ll be in a position to bring in a guy who really fits what you want to do with him. I like it.
  24. Pretty much as good as you can play short of playing at 1 of the Prep factories. At City of Palms they’ve played Wheeler, which may be the best program in Georgia and has 3 HM kids including Colben Landrew who’s going to UConn, and Garfield Heights, which has Marcus Johnson who’s a top 50 kid going to South Carolina after de committing from Ohio State. Also, McNamara plays in the DC Catholic League which year in/year is as good a conference as there is in the country. Paul VI, DeMatha, Bishop O’Connell, there are a million D1 kids in that league. Moody’s doing it against real kids.
