  1. Ok, which forum topic are we naming after you when you don’t wake up Sunday morning?
  2. It’s gonna remain surreal for a while that this sort of portal battle happens. “Yeah, I’m crossing Ole Miss off my list and I’m down to Indiana and Michigan.” And it’ll actually be a genuine disappointment if he ends up at UM. Nothing about that not awesome. Gone are the days of. “Yes, we beat FIU and Louisiana-Lafayette for the 375th ranked HS player in Florida!”
  3. Nah, it’s gonna be a beating more likely than not, but I’ll be pretty shocked if Painter has Smith or TKR on the floor with 3 mins left in a 25pt game. One of those guys rolls an ankle or breaks a finger and their season goes sideways. Dude’s not risking his season to avenge the memory of Ryan Walters.
  4. https://x.com/Heat_Muse/status/1883994863022268759 Kevin. Freaking. Love. genius
  5. Glad to see Moreno recognized. That kid is really good and deserves it. Side note: have now seen Cenac play live 4 games in the last maybe 6 weeks and it speaks to the ridiculous talent in this class that he’s not in the conversation for #1 overall. Most years he absolutely would be. Kid is a monster.
  6. My boss is a rabid Chiefs fan. Has had season tickets for years and has driven from St Louis to K.C. for every home game since I’ve known him and even he has said, “It’s nice getting close calls.” Points for honesty.
  7. Oh yeah, if you get a chance get a couple of drinks in the dude and he’ll tell you about paragliding with a pterodactyl, freaking epic. The man has done things.
  8. As someone who was 15 when Woody started playing at IU, this is ridiculous hyperbole. Cavemen, sure, there were cavemen. But dinosaurs, absolutely not.
  9. Came across this little album this morning and it’s a nice record. Chuck Prophet is a guy whose name I vaguely knew as a California indy dude who’s been hanging around forever, but that’s it. He just released an album called “Wake the Dead” in collaboration with a Latino act called Qiensave. The guy writes fun, interesting lyrics, the Latin flavor is a strong mix with him and it’s just got a great vibe. Anyone looking for 40 mins a little off the beaten path, solid thumbs up.
  10. Howard’s a problem. He was the kid who basically quit in a game early in the year because a teammate was on an ungodly heater making 3’s and he was wasn’t getting looks. Then the plane deal. Now this. Not sure where he’ll be next year, probably just go pro, but I’m confident it won’t be Auburn.
  11. If you want to think about this way, it’s the perfect result. A fun, competitive game, kid’s played hard, held our interest, and was utterly and obviously mishandled by the bench at the end.
  12. Guilty as charged. Love him. Also gonna predict that he’s not at Sunrise next year. Kid looks miserable playing with those guys and it’s not helped by having a PG who really, really thinks he’s Ja Morant and really, really isn’t.
  13. Just got done watching Chronister on back to back nights and, man, will I be sorry if he ends up somewhere else. He’s not gonna light youtube on fire. He’s not some 1 and done #1 option on a natty contender. He’s just a freaking winning player. He’s incredibly aware and he makes right play after right play after right play. Perfect example and when I fell in love with the kid: He’s running the baseline of a 1-3-1 set when his incredibly selfish PG, not a fan of that kid, breaks the play and drives to the rim. Every other player for both teams converges in the lane, including both of Sunrise’s wings. Chronister reads the situation and circles back to balance the floor. He just did that stuff over and over. He does not make mistakes. Also, never stops communicating. Constantly directing guys. He’s a little streaky as a shooter because he occasionally has some backward lean. But that’s easily correctable and when he’s vertical he can really shoot it. Whomever the HC is in April, God, I hope they stay on him.
  14. Probably, but the guy won the conference last year, was CCOY and went to the Sweet 16. If they get in this year, and I imagine that’s more likely than not, and then you cut him loose, there are gonna be some guys who don’t take their calls and some that do are gonna ask, “Hey, you didn’t support one of your own. Why should I believe you’ll support me?”, and that’s gonna be a tough question to answer. The contrast of the IU situation is that no one would be asking that. The issues are clear.
  15. Otzelberger definitely has a type. Watched a Brewster Acdemy kid last night named Killyan Toure who’s committed to Iowa St and if you knew there was an Iowa St commit on the floor but didn’t know who you would land on him in maybe 5 mins. Kid is relentless. In 32 mins that kid didn’t take a play off. Never gonna happen, but I’ve pretty much come to the conclusion that I don’t care what his buyout is, make the guy an offer he can’t refuse and pay it.
  16. 2 things: 1) neither of us knows why he chose IU and this timing to commit. We can speculate, but we don’t know. What we do know is this: he’s not some 16yo who just hiked in from a village in East Bumphrey, Bosnia. He’s a 21yo professional basketball player and I guarantee you he made a decision with his eyes wide open and fully understanding the situation. 2) I really don’t know what you would expect to hear in that scenario. “I am incredibly excited to start this next chapter of my career and I look forward to getting here in June and going to work with Coach Stev……., uh, Coach Woodson and the staff.” Kid said exactly the right thing.
  17. 1. If that’s a spectrum of result he’s closer to the Illinois kids than Dinc. 6’7” snipers who know how to play and can’t be left can help any team in any system. 2) See #1.
  18. Nope, this is what you say. It means he has people around him who are smart enough to advise him to say nothing and get the interview over with.
  19. Looked at that for a second and thought the score was IU trailing.
  20. Would think he’ll be matched up defensively with Cam Boozer a fair bit. That will be very interesting to watch.
  21. Yeah, he’s landlocked, no doubt. He’s also pretty clearly not the most flexible kid. But he’s strong enough and if his awareness is good enough, and 1 of those steals he read from 2 passes away so he understood their action, he’s got a decent chance to hold up. But, man, that stroke looks like it was architecturally designed. That’s not just some guy with a gift. That is thousands of hours of work. Every 1 is identical. Doubt he ever slumps. Hire his shooting coach as well. Also would think the ball never sticks with him. Shot, drive or pass and cut with no hesitation at all.
  22. Would think that was a very expensive get. UNC’s last offer must have been pretty blinding.
  23. Sure he does. No way his people haven’t done their homework.
  24. Yup. Warren Twnshp(Jaxson Davis) was part of the 1st schedule I saw but aren’t now and Owasso(Jalen Montanati) was part of their original rollout promotion but it looks like they went to Springhall instead.
  25. I am actually seeing Chronister tomorrow and Saturday at the Quincy Shootout. Really looking forward to it, interest or no interest.
