Exhibition Game Thread: UIndy - Sunday, Nov. 5

A little professionalism would be nice from the BTN. At least announce the change of plans. -
I agree with everything you just said and yet we are 0-6 in conference play. Toughest division in football, probably. But, man, this has to take a toll on the team. I agree we are much better at 0-6 than in the past, but we are still who our record says we are. I'm willing to give Coach Allen time to show what he can do. It just gets frustrating when we start the season with the "break through" mantra and yet here we are again.

Biters are bad enough, but chewers, good Lord!! -
I grew up, since the '50's, an IU basketball fanantic. I went to ISU and then to IU for grad school (1976). I most hated Kentucky and Purdue. The difference for me was that, while I disliked Purdue, I at least respected them. They were like that brother-in-law that you just couldn't stand but were still family. In Kentucky's case, there was nothing to even respect.

Not really arguing that point. Just saying he probably doesn't mind our struggles. I'm not connected enough to know, but I would have liked for us to have spent a little more time finding a replacement for Coach Wilson. If we ended up with Coach Allen, then so be it, but I felt this was a little rushed.

I've seen this movie so many times with IU football. Play close against really good teams and then fall flat against teams we should dominate. Our defense, if it really is good, should own this game. The local paper just had a story asking if IU would squander the best defense we have had in decades? So what happens, they suddenly can't stop anyone. It's depressing at best.

Hypothetical Line-Ups Discussion
cthomas replied to Brass Cannon's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
We aren't recruiting any 'filler' type of players as far as I can tell. The end of the bench looks to be guys who could play meaningful roles at other high major schools. To me that says Coach Miller isn't as thrilled with the roster as he sometimes implies. Hopefully, things will stabilize once he has his guys on board. If I recall correctly, he said a reason for not always using all the scholarships was to reduce the unhappiness that goes with lack of playing time. As it stands now, if he indeed uses a tighter rotation, we are going to have some unhappy guys. There's no way we can possibly play all the guys we currently have and those we anticipate getting in the next couple of years. I'm not a big fan of heavy roster turnover and hope this doesn't become a trend. -

We may not get either Romeo or Darius, but I am really impressed with the job that Coach Miller has done in getting us in contention. This just feels so different from years past. I am very optimistic about the '19 class and the future of Indiana basketball. Maybe this time we really are back! -
Regardless of what the NCAA does on this issue, UNC as a credible university has taken a hit. We self-reported because we valued our integrity and thought it was the proper thing to do. Integrity matters, even if it puts us at a competitive disadvantage. I don't ever want to see our athletic programs put winning over integrity. I love IU basketball but I love the university and its reputation more.

That is a great statement. We should all remember that we are talking about kids, not mature adults. I know that I'm a vastly different person now than when I was at18. It's easy for us as adults to say what these kids should or should not be doing, but they don't have the advantage of an adult brain.

I believe this will fizzle into a few scapegoats without the real players being touched. It is about the money and that makes a difference all the way down the line. If they had more, or thought they had a good chance of getting more, they would have waited to announce. Who's to say this is anything more than an appearance of taking down a corrupt system. We will know soon enough, but I will be surprised if this goes as deep as we think. I can't think that the FBI is as interested in college basketball as we think. -

Because, whether we like it or not, we are a bottom feeder in football. And we will be until we recruit better players. I know it's the chicken or egg argument, but we have to put better players on the field. Coach Allen's positive, I believe in you trust each other philosophy, will only take us so far. The next step requires better players. -

There is no reason why we can't at least be on the level of Northwestern, Iowa, and even Wisconsin in football. We have upgraded facilities, a beautiful campus, better weather than all three of those other teams. And, our girls can hold their own with anyone. That was my obligatory sexiest comment on a football forum. But, seriously, why are those programs usually better than us? -

Those of us who have followed IU football for a long time, and I go back to the early'60s, you really have to possess a good sense of humor. -

At this point neither qb is very good though they have different skill sets. I don't see this being a bowl team. Man, I hope I'm wrong. -

My worry with Ramsey is the beating he takes when he runs. I know Allen prefers a running quarterback but I would rather have a mobile pocket quarterback who can extend plays with his legs. -

According to my quantum physics friends everything has a nonzero possibility of happening. So, we might still win. -

Man I want to believe in Coach Allen but we should not look like this four games in.
