Yeah, he's a slight lean towards the will work out based on his past. You just never really know and it could go either way. Odds are he'll have some growing pains though.

And there is the risk. I think a lot of people expect a Dusty May style turn around. Dusty at least had D1 experience and a FF4 run.

It doesn't matter when they can "enter." Guys are announcing and making their intentions knows as we speak. Portal is just "official."

Great. So how does he go from that to putting together a competitive Big10 roster? He'll be a work in progress. So us fans will indeed need patience.

Yawn. It's the worst kept secret that Tucker will hit the portal. So will every other player. They have no coach to commit to.

Yeah, the actual timing doesn't really matter. The moves are being made now.

Define "working." If Dolson was a big dog, he'd have this buttoned up with a whale. We are still chumming the water.

Jerry and the others aren't saying anything -- because there is nothing to say. Keeping a "lid" on it until later this week when the tourney gets underway is unlikely as hell. Today would be the day for any announcement -- right between selection and the first four. I know this because I can add and read between the lines. There are 3 possible "Home Run" hires -- guys who would basically guarantee IU would be dancing next year: Brad Stevens, Jay Wright, and Dusty May. Stevens and Wright are not coaching and there is not reason they could not have been announced weeks ago, let alone today. Guys know time is of the essence and would want to hit the ground running full speed. Dusty signed his extension at Michigan -- so it's not like Scott was on the phone after Woody quit and and saying "Dusty, how does $$$$ sound?" Guys who might be "Home Runs" -- Pearl, Wade, Beard -- aren't realistic because of their baggage or circumstances. That leaves everyone else -- McCollum, Cronin, Brownsomething, DeVries, McDermmot, etc. All of them are probably "solid" hires, but they may take some time to build something at IU, or they may crash and burn. Definitely TBD. But there is no evidence that Scott has gone and seen any of them. These guys aren't hired over zoom -- a personal meeting takes place at some point. Which means, exactly what I said. They have a list. They probably have vetted certain guys. Maybe even know the possibilities and likelihoods. And when the coach exits the tournament, the scramble will begin -- along with Iowa, et. al. We may hit, we may miss. Nothing is set in stone. Meanwhile, the portal opens and everyone else starts moving forward. We are still looking for a coach. Just the way I see it. I pray I am wrong.

Guys I hate to break it to you, but Scott hasn’t done chit yet. Maybe he and the firm made a list or something, but nothing specific has been done. Nobody has been directly talked to. No contracts drafted. Nothing. While other schools have announced hires, IU is behind. No way Scott keeps it this quiet. He doesn’t have that power vs a big money booster or agent. If it was anyone of any note It would have been announced or at least leaked already. Face it, the new guy has to get started. Today, the entire team will enter the portal. And while it’s not “officially” open, they will be contacted. Renue, Tucker, and the two guards will be gone. The new guy will have a team of zero. Waiting because Mediocre Mike’s feelings will be hurt is a mistake. Waiting to tell the Celtics or whomever is a mistake. We had an opportunity to get a head start and it’s blown. It’s a typical IU cluster farque.

At this point the only flight that will matter is from the coach’s current location to b-town. Everything else is noise.
