Let’s face it. The likelihood is that the real official search hasn’t started. Thus, there are no true candidates to talk about. They are all working other jobs and are “do not disturb.” Best Dolson can do is back channel agents and ask if their guy may be interested. Work his list down from there so he hits the ground running with his top 3 to 5 guys as the season ends.
-
A 4 seed doesn’t mean chit if you don’t get to week 2. And in no way does it guarantee a week 3.
-
Yeah. Someone who has a process and the chops to stabilize the program. Then, he can’t be afraid to self evaluate each season and make tweaks to get better and move past the Sweet 16. That is where a lot of coaches fail.
-
As I have stated the tournament is a numbers game. Need a coach you can get there consistently — basically every year, or 9 of 10 at least. Then if he gets to the second weekend on a regular basis, you got your man. It is a lot of “luck” to go from there. More times you’re in, more likely to break thru.

This isn’t the airport. You don’t have to announce your departure Over under on when he’s back? :)

Has Brad given them the same “no?” I just don’t buy that “I am not a candidate” = no. That’s weasel language. No means no.
-
I doubt he comes. He’s in his hometown with little pressure.

Ok, been thinking about this Stevens thing all day. First, I am not a big Stevens guy. I am neutral at best. But I think Stevens is trolling Goodman, and Goodman took the bait. Words mean things. Even if he was quoted as saying "I am not a candidate" what does that really mean? It doesn't mean anything. Think about it. Season is still going on. Most current coaches who would be candidates are still coaching and can't really be contacted. Has Dolson even "officially started" the search so people are actually candidates? Second, if we review the activities of the other day, it was suggested that IU basically had an agreement in principle with Stevens. That again, takes Stevens out of the "candidate" definition because he is actually the coach in waiting. So who the hell knows.

That’s how you deny something.

Ok now you’re funny. You amuse me. Go back 100 pages or so, you’ll get all the Chris Beard you want.
-
Funny how? :)

Show the text. Stevens could easily do a number of things without a press conference. Grab a reporter in the hall and go on record in s recorded interview stating that he is not interested in the IU job. Issue a written statement and send it to media for publication. Or tweet something himself. Etc. He did none of this.
-
Brad put out no such statement. Goodman did based on “sources” one of which might be Brad. With today’s technology, Brad could easily put out a statement direct from him. He did not.
-
Gentlemen everything your hear on this site, or anywhere else, is both true and bullchit at the same time. We don’t know who the “sources” are. A lot can be the Ferris Buhler clip I posted. Unless and until it comes directly from Dolson or stevens, or any other candidate, take it with a grain of salt. Goodman posted a load of crap. Whether Brad likes the Celtics and his current job is completely irrelevant. That quote, if true, is simply self serving. So why isn’t the quote “I have told IU I am not a candidate” or “I told my friend Scott I am not interested?” That is the actual newsworthy quote. Everything at this point has plausible deniability. I guess we’ll see.

Gave 6mil to woody. So there’s that.

If fact should be able to enjoy it more with that elephant off the back.

Now isn't this where Fergeson steps in and fks everything up. :)
-
That's what the last guy did -- how did it work out. :)
-
Well if he called him "Johnny Cougar" that would be a hard no. Besides, if he's needed get Pam involved -- I think they have a secret crush. :)
-
Scott has to move on Dusty now. Don't wait. First one who says yes gets the job. "Hey Brad, you snooze, you lose."
-
The "hurry" as you put it relates to commitment and desire. If someone offered you your dream job with great money, would you say: 1) Well, let me think about it. I'll let you know in two weeks. Or 2) Damn right, when can I start. I get it, there are logistics and family issues in play here, but if this is what he wants to do, and his family is behind him, then decide already. The hesitation has me concerned that he would be here under some type of "duress" -- he came but family is unhappy, doing it for the money, etc. Are we going to get maximum effort from him? IDK.
-
Just a sarcastic comment on the over the top love for Stevens. There are plenty of guys who could do the job. My real concern with Stevens his whether he really wants to do it, 2 weeks to decide is too long.

We have stop worrying about the "optics" BS. You what bad optics are -- getting pummelled by UofI, et.al. Good optics -- hanging banners. Everything else is just noise.

Plus let's not forget, Stevens has won as many NCAA championships as I have. He's not The Pope. :) Dusty has done an amazing job in a single year. We missed the boat I am afraid.
