The best coaches (or CEO, or hamburger flippers, or whatever) surround themselves with smart people, change and adapt. There was zero reason Woodson couldn't have come to IU, learned the college game, listened to guys like Matta and Fife, adapted his offense/defense schemes, and succeeded. Except his stupid ego, which has him where he is at -- a failed coach and a ruined player legacy.

Why not? Why would Dolson say anything but "ok, let me help you pack?" You're trying to convince me that Dolson said, "no wait Mike, let's not make a rash decision. You should stick around and get the team over the hump." Sometimes you take the win when the other team gives it to you. The second Mike says "I quit" you book it. No tag backs.

What are things that didn't happen. If that has any truth to it at all, Dolson says "cool, you need a few boxes to clean out your office?" Helps him pack his truck, and then appoints and interim HC and drafts a statement.

Clearly the release is a bunch of BS. Doesn't square with the reported "contemplating" retirement crap. If he actually told Dolson on Wed. that he wanted to step down, the statement could have been drafted by that afternoon. No need to wait until late Friday. I was born at night, but not last night. Anywho, thank god it's over. Time to start tracking flights. :)

So since Woody decided to "step down" we shouldn't see a transfer of some $8 million, right?

I get it, some media dudes have "reported" it. Yet it's 3:00 on a Friday afternoon. 24+ hours after the "reports" broke. Yet nothing from the University. Why do you think that is?

Baloney. Lawyers can tidy this up in a matter of hours if both clients want it to end. HOWEVER, if one client is being difficult it drags out like it is. And we all know who that client is. Dolson's other option, which should be taken at this point, IMHO, is to go by the contract and fire him. F the payout. In fact, tell him it's for cause -- sucking so bad -- and to "sue me" for the buy out.

Yeah, last I checked none of them worked for the University, let alone the Athletic department. Until it's on university letterhead, it don't mean squat.

Already Noon and no official word from the University. What a freaking clown show. Clearly a lot of BS is happening behind the scenes. Scott needs to go to Whitten and end this chit. It doesn't really. I think what adversely affects IU is the way this is coming about. Normal people meet for a few hours. Either "hey, I am thinking of retiring after the season" or "hey, Mike, I think you need to retire after the season." "Lets talk." Iron out the details and then issue a press release and/or press conference. It's relatively simple and seamless. But not at IU, with Woodson, Buckner, and the rest of the clowns. I am sure Dolson feels like he's trying to juggle knives. "Mike doesn't want to retire, you need to do this, this and that. Give him the season. He's doing his job, etc. etc." It's really not that hard, but IU has to make it hard.

Hate to say it guys, but it's all BS. It's not happening. As Woody said, he's not going anywhere. Probably getting his extension ready for hanging close to Purdue. Sorry to be Debbie Downer.
