One of the things mentioned in the analysis video a few pages back was CDD ability to adapt and adjust. Back in the Drake days Tucker was good enough to create his own shots. When they moved to WVU, the talent was better, so they ran him off a series of screens to get him looks. That’s what I like. Will adjust to personal in order just win baby. Can’t wait to see how this roster comes together in the next month.

It sounds to me like Stevens was always a “maybe,” as in as long as Scott had time he wasn’t going to take no for an answer. I doubt there was a firm yes and definitely doubt anything was signed. I think Scott knew nothing with college guys could be locked down until tournament time, depending on who is in and who is out. So he could keep the stevens option open for a while. Until then he would do his homework and get ready. The closer we got to tournament time, the more likely stevens was not going to change his mind. So he starts formally working DeVries, et. al. a few weeks ago. The big unexpected event was both IU and WVU getting snubbed from the tournament. That opened the floodgates and allowed Scott to finish up this week. As Dolson wasn’t very chatty I think people close to him held on to the Stevens dream which turned into he was signed, sealed, and delivered. Or Dolson went on an epic troll. :)

After listening to the press conference today, I don't think anyone really fits. I said maybe Rice in the other thread as a defensive guy. He doesn't shoot well enough for CDD, I don't think. Same with Cupps, not a good enough shooter. I am down on Reneau after is University of Indiana stuff -- give me a break, get the hell out of here. Tucker seems to have those "red flags" CDD was talking about. MM can't play defense well enough. No clue what Carlyle can do. Would like to see Newton healthy. I assume Goode won't get the extra year. Bottom line, any current players are probably backups and practice players at best. Luckily, the new guy can probably bring a player or two with him (in addition to his kid). Plus, he's got all his recruiting notes in order. He has a lot of spots to fill.

Two things stand out from this: 1) Oh, no. Does that mean we are going the track "deflections." 2) Adaptability is key. The best coaches adapt. Sounds good.

If there was a "verbal" agreement as late as Sunday 3/18, then Scott did mess up. IU had the advantage that Woody was known to be gone mid Feb. Give Stevens, or whomever, until 3/1 to say yes. By the time 2/25 rolls around, tell them you're moving on to put the pressure on them. Although, seems to me highly unlikely there was any agreement as late as Sunday. The search firm was put in place weeks ago. No need for such firm if there was an agreement.

I think some people have zero idea “inside” information is compiled. Dolson doesn’t say chit to anyone, until he wants it published via a reporter. People get info from his actions and tidbits. He’ll talk to a money man and probably give only enough info to get the check. Some people might pick up on that conversation. Bits and pieces flow, and then the “did you hear” comes out. Nobody is getting anything direct from Dolson, except maybe Mrs. Dolson — and that’s only when he needs to act like a big shot to get a little something. :)

WTF. That’s part of the problem.

That simply is silly. National Championships just don’t happen. Brad Stevens has exactly zero NCAA Championships. Chris Beard, zero. Will Wade, yep zip. Bruce Pearl, none. So who you getting that has proven National Championship potential. Those were the “whales.” No guarantees any would win a Natl Championship. None of them were coming DeVries was one of the best non-whale options. He’ll get us consistently in the dance, and work from there. It’s a process.
