  1. Purdue and IU both come to mind back in Woodson ’s days.
  2. There is truth in this that goes back to the Knight situation. They clearly don't want that to repeat itself. Of course then Sampson was hired who was already know to "cheat." So it was a work in progress -- and my guess a split administration at the time. Sampson gave the "do gooders" the amunition to kill the program, which they did. It's a long road back with some less than spectacular coaching hires. Crean just could get the consistency desired. Archie was a complete bust, with no apparent reason why he failed so miserably. Jury is out on Woodson. Keep the faith.
  3. All I'll say is if we squeek in, we better win the first one at least (and preferabbly two) to proove that we belong there. :)
  4. You think if Loyola wins it’s conference tournament it opens up an at large bid?
  5. Kinda what I have been saying -- we don't have the horses. Sure Woodson has made some mistakes, but who doesn't. But our talent needs an upgrade.
  6. Ok, but you have to include several bricks shot by others in the conversation. I mean, they shoot like me out there.
  7. I hate big 10 basketball. I am all for a little bumping and grinding underneath, but they don't call squat. And then they hit you with the little ticky tack crap away from the ball. Come tourney time, the Big hardly makes it thru the first weekend.
  8. Signing where. He’ll need to ship it overseas.
  9. Yes he has said it more than once. TJD does it in practice, just not in games. I guess I’ll believe what Woodson said publicly vs a quote from a Kansas paper.
  10. Sounds like he'll fit right in. LOL :)
  11. And then Archie crapped the bed. Set the program back years. But I agree with you. It was "Miller Time." We had our proven coach who could take back to the promised land. Unfortunately, he was such a dude. And it just goes to prove, finding that right coach is kinda hard.
  12. Any day we beat Purdon't is a great day in Indiana basketball. Even when we owned their sorry arses.
  13. But they could have him appear at the store, sign autographs and such. Could they not? Just like the pros do.
  14. I don't think we do. Maybe on paper with all the BS "*" stuff. But in reality, the past several years, it looks like men vs. boys.
  15. I know we are not supposed to read anything into it, but he didn't speak at SR. night. So he probably wants to stay.
  16. I think Woodson liked Kopp's length. He appears to have pretty long arms. He's shooting didn't take off this year like it needed to. But frankly, we just need to build around the core 3 players -- Geronimo, Bates, and Galloway. Maybe Leal if he can become a shooter. Add the three incoming. That give them 6 spots to work with. X or (not and) Phin, plus a couple of the best transfers you can find.
  17. We didn't bring in shooters. We brought in guys that can shoot. Shooters are those SOBs that seemingly put up prayers that always go in. They make them with their eyes closed.
  18. Yeah I don’t see IU going with an alleged abuser. Kinda what cause this mess to begin with.
  19. Right. But the majority of coaches in D-1 suck.
  20. Stevens decided to give up coaching. What does that tell you? It tells me he was never comming to IU, period. IU isn't an attractive job any longer because it's past was so long ago. It's a mediocre program at best, playing in a meat grinder division. Look where the top coaches go -- they go to the programs with a history of success, including in the 2000s. That's not IU any longer. I know, it hurts to say that. Offering someone $7m just means you're going to pay someone $5m more than they are worth.
  21. Name the coach who was comming here for $7m. Calipari and K are two of the best who ever coached. You going to overpay, whom.
  22. Vs what. If I am a top coach, and I am getting that $7m from any school, why pick run of the mill IU. Good coaches know they are good. They won't be settlilng.
  23. Guys, not to go off on a tangent, but you have to go back to the Knight saga for the context. Knight was bigger than the school. IU adminstration made a concious decision that they didn't want that type of coach. They wanted a run of the mill guy who wouldn't attract attention. And they could care less about the program back then. So when Sampon fd up, they went death penalty for a misdemeanor. Set the program back to where it is today.
  24. As soon as Rutgers went zone and we failed to hit anything outside, it was over. That's on the players.
  25. Actually, I thought Dackich kicked the problems off. Crean had to use baseball players to fill the roster, no.
