Because our program operates under the illusion that if you don't give a coach at least four years to fail, you'll look like a bunch of mean, ungrateful bastards and nobody will want anything to do with you anymore. So, better to let the failing coach continue to fail and say "at least we tried" then have the sense to realize something isn't working and pull the plug. I blame the total reset we did after Sampson. It allowed Crean to do nothing but lose for 3 years, then along came Cody Zeller and suddenly those three years got swept under the rug. Our fanbase is full of lemmings who go around parroting "have to give a coach 4 years" because they remember that era. The administration heavily relies on these fans to watch their backs, because they've very self-conscious about optics and what everyone else thinks of them. So, we hire bad coaches and keep them even when it's obvious they don't have it. We have an administration that wants to believe our program is elite, but doesn't want to do what it takes to be elite, so we get coaches who want to win, but don't want to put in the work it takes to win.

I like how he was projecting a home loss to OSU when we don't even play them at home. Or that's what it sounded like; hard to tell with some of those word salads.

I'm not sure how MSU isn't ranked. They lost at OSU by 5 and lost at Iowa on a Clark 3 from the logo. They beat Purdue 97-70 just days after we beat Purdue by 6. Would rather not see them again. They gave us fits last year too.

Nightmare scenario: we end up in the 4 vs. 5 game and play MSU in the BTT.

Not sure I've ever seen a team hit 9 of its first 10 shots and still be losing.

Let's say Woodson gets canned and we hire a white coach. What are we afraid of? Any "outrage" from fringe groups would likely be short-lived and just become background noise that will disappear completely once we start winning. Worrying about stuff like this isn't how successful organizations operate.

Heard this a lot when Crean was in his final days. It got us Archie Miller. Heard the same thing with him...we got Mike Woodson. Who will it get us next? People can hope for whatever outcomes they want, but when you find yourself repeatedly indulging in this kind of cognitive dissonance, might need to consider if you're wasting your time.

Actually, I don't think he's ever lost to a 14 seed. But he's lost to all those others. Maybe when Goliath finally moves on they'll regress all the way to a 3 seed and we'll get to see that one at some point.

Is there a transfer portal draft where more losses means we get a higher pick? I must have missed that.

He'd have to be wildly successful to get an extension at this point. If he actually managed to be that successful, he might decide his work is done and it's a good time to hand it off to the next guy.

Last time we beat these guys on their court was right before Crean got fired, and people were bummed because they thought it would mean he'd stay. No idea what will happen with Woodson but we need enjoy sweeping this program. They raided our state of elite talent for years and their fans took great pleasure in our struggles when Crean got started.

I mean, they're juniors in high school. It will be 2 years before they're playing in college. Do you think this staff will still be here in 2 years? Why would they commit to that?
