I'll always have a soft spot for Alcorn State. In my 20's I traveled America, living in about 15 different cities every year. I lived a month on Alcorn State's campus, living in the student union. It's the most depressing place I've ever been in my life. I can't say it's the only campus I've seen that's surrounded by fence and barbed wire....I've also been to Jackson State down the road. I'm not sure if the barbed wire is to keep people in or out. I do know that the people inside both are very nice. Just a really underprivileged part of America. If you've never spent time in rural Mississippi you're missing a large group of what makes America. Alcorn State actually offered me a full scholarship that I turned down. No way I could live there, but I'll always cheer for their teams to succeed.
Except today. Great win Hoosiers. We seem to play better when the offense is run through Yogi instead of Troy.
