A spin on our returning roster/recruits

Pretty shocked at the way some are discounting TB in this thread. -
A spin on our returning roster/recruits

The most difficult part of my list was Hartman and Newkirk. I'm really glad Hartman is coming back, think it's a great "win" that Archie got him to return, and I really liked how Newkirk came on the 2nd half. Putting them 8 and 9 is not a reflection of how I like them, just couldn't see putting them above the guys I had above the. 1. Bryant 2. OG 3. Davis 4. Morgan 5. RoJo 6. Green 7. JBJ 8. Hartman 9. Newkirk 10. CuJo 11. McSwain 12. Priller 13. Gelon Recruits 1. Smith 2. Moore 3. Durham -
Who's declaring/transferring around NCAA 2017?
BGleas replied to reconmkd's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
I don't really know. Not being a UMD fan or fan of any of the local teams I don't typically pay attention to the local stuff, but this one time I tuned in they were talking about it. Just guessing, but I think it's because his play has kind of plateaued the last two seasons and they haven't really made a move in terms of league or tournament success. I also think the fans are really excited for their freshmen class this past season and may want the backcourt keys handed to Cowan. -

He's also fallen out of favor with a lot of UMD fans. I was listening to 105.7 about a month ago and they were discussing if Melo should declare because he's worn out his welcome?!?! -
My favorite part of that video is they posted it on FB as "a peak into Monday's Bigs workout", and they were actually working on post moves, etc. While I'm certainly fine with players rounding out their their skills and adding elements to their games, it's refreshing that I feel like we're getting back to some basics of the game.

So what is the incentive to being a clean program?
BGleas replied to Brass Cannon's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
This scandal goes back to the Dean Smith days well before the 1 and done rule. -

And don't forget, this wasn't a small blip for a year or two, this went on for 15-20+ years. This fake major thing goes all the way back to Dean Smith. It's appalling how the sports media essentially ignores it too. -
2017 March Madness Tournament Thread
BGleas replied to IU Hoosier41's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
I don't really care though, Brooks missed shots tonight and took some bad ones, which is going to happen. Bell not boxing out in those two situations is a lack of effort, that's inexcusable. -
2017 March Madness Tournament Thread

Wow, if I'm an Oregon player I'm going at that kid Bell in the locker room. How do you just simply not box out on the free throw TWICE with a spot on title game on the line. That's just inconceivable to me. -
Not to mention a top 10 class the year before Vic and Cody left as well. So he had consecutive top 10 classes to replace the Vic/Cody/Hulls/Watford group and they couldn't even make the NIT.

To be fair, in that first interview Crean did he said his agent texted him the night before asking if he was free to chat, intimating that the agent passed along on that call that the decision had been made. He then said Glass texted him the next morning just before he was leaving for his trip. So, I don't think he's changed the story at all, sounds like the agent was notified first.

Maryland will still be good next year. They had three freshmen starters this year who all had good season. Jackson and Huerter are really good, and Anthony Cowan will step right into Melo's role. They have the Checko big kid back and a decent class. I would expect them to be in the mix for somewhere in the top 4-5.

Really shows the power that the IU job still holds nationally. Maybe I just missed it because I wasn't looking for it, but I didn't see the new UI or Mizzou, or any other new coaches on SVP, Mike & Mike, Dan Patrick, Jim Rome etc., etc. Archie is everywhere.

At one point he actually said, "I'm a dream-maker".

Sorry for flooding this thread on Will Wade/LSU, but this is a like a train wreck I can't look away from. It's crazy how bad he is.
-
Haha, he never played basketball either. It's like he's a clone. A reporter asked him if not playing hurts him.
-
Wow, what a train wreck...That was awful. Are there any cliche's left? He used all of them.

I didn't say a single word about Yogi in my post. I think it's crazy that it took 3.5 years for him to become a leader. IMO it was some flaw in Crean's model. i don't know if it was not naming captains officially, or this "everyone is a leader" mantra, but for some reason during much of his tenure it seemed leadership was a quality that took longer to develop. I also never said a word about not wanting any player, so not sure where your post is really coming from? I was addressing why JBJ and RoJo are taking more heat for their poor defense compared to other guys, and rightfully so. Crean basically flat-out said it when he called out his junior class publicly.
-
I hear what you and others are saying in terms of nobody playing D so how can JBJ and RoJo be singled out. But remember, these guys are 3-year starting juniors. Crean talked a lot this past season about a lack of leadership and specifically pertaining to the junior class. Seems he was pointing that finger directly at these two. Being the quasi leaders, they should have been leading by example on that end of the court. RoJo had a golden opportunity to be the prime leader for the next two years and hasn't grabbed it yet.

This was my big takeaway more than anything in particular that he said. He spoke well, but also seemed like he just wanted to get it over with because he has work to do. I loved it. I also like that we now have a coach that talks like a coach. He doesn't talk in concepts and taglines. He just speaks like a basketball coach. I think it's great.
