  1. I don't see Cigs going after a back-up profile (unless he has failed at landing every player that is better). He will go after the best he can get and tell them to compete for playing time.
  2. true but starting next year we can also pay players directly in addition to NIL. And the NIL amount could be divided among multiple years even if not a contract.
  3. Even if that 2.5 million was a contract for multiple years and other big time recruits would be swayed by a 5 star QB commitment?
  4. Some schools would have offered the same amount...not all could have afforded the same amount either because their NIL isn't as good or they had already spent it elsewhere. I'm sure he liked Indiana well enough but us fans like Indiana without getting paid. My point (that's getting lost in the back and forth) is that it was a bad attempt at fan shaming.
  5. you said people overrated the factor in 95% of the cases. Not sure how to read that other than saying it's not much of a factor.
  6. I think that is a major underestimation of the power of NIL in decisions. It's not the only factor and for some it may not be the top factor, but it is a factor for most transfers at the P5 level.
  7. Possibly. I'm sure there were likely other reasons for them to choose IU other than just money. I'm just pointing out that it isn't really a good example to use for fan shaming.
  8. To be fair, they were paid to like the state of the program.

(2025) S Byron Baldwin BACK to Indiana

Doesn't sound like Baldwin will take the bait. At least it shows we got some recruits big time schools desire.

(2025) Edge Tyrone Burrus Jr. to Indiana

Any mention of a decision date? This is one those recruiting battles that we need to win given he is in our backyard.

Looks like you are correct. Missed that news. https://www.espn.com/college-football/story/_/id/39209002/former-florida-qb-jalen-kitna-commits-uab

Backup plan in case we miss on Lewis. Wonder where his older brother will land now that his name was cleared.

    Fire Coach Woodson Thread

Even HS recruits aren't likely to stay 4 years so a transfer with college experience that still has 2-3 years left of eligibility looks pretty good. I think the days are gone that you recruit someone on the hopes that they develop into a contributor as an upperclassman because there is a decent chance they won't be here that long. Right now we just have Leal, Galloway, Reneau and Mgbako as players that came here out of HS. Reneau may or may not stay 4 years. Mgbako is probably not going to be here that long. I agree with your comment that we should look for the best 1 or 2 HS players each year and then fill up on more experienced transfers.
