Honestly, all other analysis aside, I think this summarizes it. Archie mentioned that anyone who is scared of playing at Duke should stay home - I wonder now if that was inspired by observation. We immediately came out scared to play and the early foul calls reinforced the tentative approach. Understand mods have a job to do here, but I think plenty of us are sick of the endless drumbeat of misery. Is he explicitly breaking forum rules? No. Is it incredibly annoying? Absolutely. The guy made USPS snap! I have him blocked, but unfortunately still see his posts when he’s quoted by others. It’s damn near unavoidable. I’ll disagree on the blue print. Any other team other than the Duke Monstars plays that way and it’s 50% as effective. The team is unreal athletic and talented. Coach K barely needs a game plan, especially at home against a pretty inexperienced squad. I think a team like Virginia might give them fits if they can slow them down. Agree with mdn - once again came away from a Duke game pleasantly surprised by DD. I really think he can be an excellent contributor to the team. Will he ever live up to his #1 HS ranking? A betting man says no. Can he be a key player on a tournament team? Absolutely. Will he have his limitations and flaws? Absolutely. But he’s shown he can quietly play his game regardless of the level of competition. Just needs to stay healthy and get some consistent experience. Agree with the poster who said we’ve seen Juwan’s ceiling. He’s made incredible strides, but something about how he plays doesn’t have that spark. Juwan would thrive on a team where he wasn’t the guy. Que Romeo. He’s a freshman, so I’m not worried. However, he’s the 5th ranked freshman in the country, and he was little boy’d by Zion and Barrett. Tough task going one-on-one against a single one of them, and unfortunately Duke has three/an entire team of stars. IU needs him to score at will or drive and dish at will. With McBob and Fitzner on the floor, the lanes should be open enough for someone as talented as Romeo. I think he was rattled by his first big lights moment, and I expect that to change. I hope he’s angry. Overall, not panicked after an away beat down at Cameron. Disappointed, yes. Annoyed, yes. BUT - we won the second half. The team showed some kind of response. So after all the worry, I think the B1G looked pretty good today. Egg on the face with the MSU loss, but they’re likely over ranked in November due to the Izzo factor. They’ll look like a top 25 come February for sure. ND barely beat a very very poor Illinois at home. PSU with the nice upset, and Iowa and Wisconsin took care of business. Good response from the team in the second half. Reassuring to see. Plenty to improve upon, but this Duke team is more talented than the 2011-2012 UK team.
