Mike DeBord Retiring
Walking Boot of Doom replied to The Ola Depot's topic in Indiana Hoosiers Football
I agree with that recipe, which is why Ramsey was so disappointing this year. 19 TDs and 13 INTs isn’t what I’d call managing a game. Im excited to see what Penix and Tuttle can do. They both seem to have much higher ceilings. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app -

You’ve certainly said Ramsey is not the problem and that DeBord is. If you disagree, that’s fine. Ramsey has potential for sure. He’s also flawed. His strength became a weakness from one year to the next with a massive increase in turnovers. I’m glad we’re going to have a new OC and hopefully a new option in Penix or Tuttle. Listen, you’re being stubborn because you’re trying to win the argument that’s been going on with Old Friend for months now. Ramsey has plenty of flaws as does DeBord. They are a terrible combination. However, pretending like either is the sole problem is ignorant. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app -

Game managers don’t throw as many interceptions as Ramsey did this past season. DeBord was boring, but Ramsey was not of the caliber needed either. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app -

Didn’t watch Alford play, but I cannot have any respect for a man who has made the choices he’s made and is incapable of admitting fault. Dakich is just an obnoxious radio personality who seems to harbor an unhealthy amount of jealousy and spite. Knight is just a very flawed man from a far distant generation who is too stubborn to forgive. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners -

Peyton Ramsey did not impress me at all this year. Mike DeBord did not impress me at all this year. Glad we’re addressing both of those deficiencies. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners -

Fair, I kinda saw DeBord as a stop gap hire though. Help Allen get his feet set. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app -

Old - you asked where the line stops for what might be considered inconsequential and then listed teachers, trauma surgeons, and first responders? A referee is not on the same level here - serious consequences exist in those professions. Life or death and long term health and success type consequences. Responding to the guys in here who ref for their kids or local organizations - good on you. I’m sure you’re all high character people who try to do things the right way. My post was likely poorly worded, but my criticism was directed at the TV Teddy’s of middle school basketball. Plenty of crap happens that no one should have to deal with, especially at that pay level, but that doesn’t justify abusing the “power” granted to you. Bringing those two thought together - imagine what teachers deal with. The same kids, for 8 hours a day 5 days a week, on terrible salaries. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app -

I get this is sarcasm, but you should read a bit about Kaepernick’s community and charitable activities. There are far, far more people that deserve hate and vitriol before him. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app -

In that tweet thread posted above with Armaan’s mother, some dweeb continued to say “you insulted an official”. Once again apologies to the refs in here who are probably good people doing their job, but man you are not an official anything. You wear a zebra suit and mediate middle school and high school games. You’re not a judge upholding a legal system. Get off your damn power trip. People are weird as hell man. Give some an ounce of power and they’ll take everything they can. IUFB Offseason Updates

Also, what did the complainers want? Allen to go out and hire a bigger name to be his coordinator than himself? Our HC is young and unproven. We’ll likely see similar hires. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners -

Thanks lucel for trying to provide intelligent insight. Im not worried about the defensive side of the ball - I think this is a good promotion to continue doing what we’re doing and remove distractions from Allen. Still want to see a change at OC. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners -
If we were to leave Adidas. Who is your pick?
Walking Boot of Doom replied to yogisballin's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Picking Nike on quality and brand alone. Separately, I’m glad they supported Kaepernick. The campaign launched around him and other athletes was very in-line with their brand as well. I also understand why people would choose to stop supporting a brand because of their political stances, but if that’s the case don’t stop at Nike. Many (maybe most?) brands take strong positions in all issues - they just aren’t so forthcoming about it. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners -
Yes, was implying a lot of those voters aren’t paying much attention and the AP ranking is what will stand out to anyone with a pulse. I think they’re fairly equivalent teams resume wise despite us throttling them. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners

Yup - regardless, similar teams, but Marquette has more... “marquee” wins on paper. Makes it easy to move them up the polls. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners

They’ve beaten Louisville, #12 KSU, #12 Wisconsin, and #14 Buffalo. Impressive resume of high profile games. I’m not really surprised. We’ve beaten Louisville and #24 Marquette. It’s fairly clear how they’re ranked ahead of us, in my opinion. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app

What will it take to win #6
Walking Boot of Doom replied to BottomLine's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
KenPom numbers pre-tourney are just a nice guidepost. Teams need to be within reasonable distance of the 30/30 or 20/20, whichever you subscribe to, in order to be logical champion selections. Data should be used to inform decisions and identify previously unseen trends, not define black and white rules. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners -
Guys - if I’m a voter, I’m not putting these Hoosiers as they currently play higher than 15 TOPS. We feel ranked appropriately despite the record and NET wins. Let’s see how we look in February after some B1G games. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners

His entire game could be more impressive if he played more aggressively. But he’s someone who it comes so naturally to so maybe it’s something he’s learning still. I’m really excited to see the game where he just decides to take over. You can tell me we have not seen his best yet. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app
-
That and the turnovers are the only knocks on his game. Would be good for him to demonstrate more dominance on the defensive end. He plays well and smart, but Green is far more active and dynamic there in my opinion. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app
-
He would’ve faced more guys who could step up and bang with him, but I agree that he probably would have been a perennial first teamer. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app

I didn’t find him to be disengaged earlier. He’s playing more aggressively, and I think the whole team is really gelling and having fun now. It was nice seeing his relieved reaction after that three rattled around the entire hoop and in. He’s been ice cold from three this year. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app
