I agree, but also, "the tragedy of life is often not in our failure, but rather in our complacency." I also agree that the NIT is a great test lab for changes to the game. No reason not to try to improve a "fine" product and see if you can make it better!

Hardly anyone ever likes change at first. I think it’s an interesting possible solution. There are plenty of positives as well. Enviado desde mi iPhone utilizando BtownBanners

(2019) PF Trayce Jackson-Davis to INDIANA
Walking Boot of Doom replied to Uspshoosier's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Nothing more than what you don’t already know - Alford is a great recruiter and bad coach who consistently underachieves. His seat is and has been warm. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app -
LaLu... weird... I’ve never wanted to go near them. Where’s Keion Brooks supposedly going to play next year btw? Enviado desde mi iPhone utilizando BtownBanners

One of the top business and music schools in the world (Kelley and Jacobs) as well as other strong programs covering pretty much any academic discipline, massive investments in our medical research (look up Grand Challenges), the second largest student run philanthropic organization in the country (IUDM), and a basketball program with unparalleled history and fan support back on the rise. And guess what? Football has made HUGE strides forward in recent years. Keep complaining. You’re repeatedly walking into a tree and not seeing the rest of the forest here. Because it takes 1) time 2) money 3) luck. You can probably count on one hand the number of schools with outstanding academics, an outstanding football program, and an outstanding basketball program. Go ahead and start listing them, Michigan is the only school that immediately comes to mind.

It's a university not a pro-sports team. I think Indiana has their priorities properly aligned.
-
Since the 90s. The 90s were the last time this program had any semblance of consistency.
-
I disagree. The players really seem to like him, he fits well with the school and fanbase, and we didn't go get a rental coach like Brohm who is going to jump in a year or two once a bigger and better program comes around. I liked the confidence play here. Besides, if we had done a coaching search, we probably would have hired a coaching search firm, and then everyone would gripe about costs. Regardless, if we see the results on the field, no one will have any reason to care about how a coaching search was/wasn't done. 2018-2019 will be interesting!

Both major sports are in better places than they've been since the 90's. What the hell is everyone talking about.

I’m confused what more people want? It seems like everyone is upset that we didn’t coach shop, yet maybe we liked the guy we have. Fred has made some really strong hires, some that didn’t pan out, but I think way more good than bad. I’m excited for this season! Enviado desde mi iPhone utilizando BtownBanners

I’m thinking purely in terms of comparison, but the high jump athletes take massive running starts. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app

Well, when they say Smith tied a combine record, that’s not exactly honest. I think it’s fine regardless. Hype up the kids and get them some publicity. Same thing they all do with wingspan and height. NBA teams have come to expect some shrinkage and reduced performance in the transition from college to the league. @Brass makes sense now. There was no way Smith got 48” with the rest of the NBA testing out in the 43-44” range at the combine. The margins look nice, but what was Juwan doing with a 27” vertical last year lol. Enviado desde mi iPhone utilizando BtownBanners

That’s true, and the Duke game wasn’t the norm... Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app

I’ll buy. Deron versus Duke was eye opening. He was dominant against a frontcourt two lottery picks. I just think the numbers seem off/inflated. Case and point, Juwan added 10” to his vertical and Smith setting the actually all time max vertical record of any player who has ever lived in the same summer. I’m not ready to buy that much hype. I watched the same video from an angle above the rim that looks like his head gets right around the top of the rim. Wouldn’t be surprised if he did something extreme like 43”-44”, but 48” blows all current NBA players and combine results out of the water by an extreme margin. Here, you can go look at every max vert from the combine since 2000-2001. 48” is an outlier and certainly suspect. https://stats.nba.com/draft/combine-strength-agility/#!?sort=MAX_VERTICAL_LEAP&dir=1&SeasonYear=2005-06&CF=POSITION*E* Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app

The video angles don’t actually give a clear view of that. In the rim cam angle it certainly doesn’t look like his head is very far above, if at all above, the rim. 6” more than the rest of the NBA seems a bit ludicrous Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app
