  1. Quarter beers?? Inflation is out of control. Wednesday was 15 cent beer night back in my day (00-04). Yogi’s and scotty’s were my spots. I was inconsolable when I found out yogis was closing. Was encouraged when I heard they found a new location and were reopening. Was quite torn when I realized that new location was the scotty’s I loved and didn’t realized closed. Went to Sco-gi’s last time I was in town but it just made me miss both of the originals.
  2. I specifically remember that game not being on TV. Pulled up the radio call to listen but I was pissed I couldn’t watch the first game of the glorious new era to come. I remember simultaneously thinking wow I’m glad I didn’t have to watch that but also why did I actually sit through listening to the whole....damn....game.
  3. I’ve been of the opinion for a while that we should set our sights on overtaking MSU in the East. Consistent winning seasons, mostly around 8 wins, occasionally breaking through for 10 or 11 but not unquestionable to have a 4 or 5 win turd mixed in. We aren’t gonna be OSU, PSU or UM overnight, but can compete with them and be better than some of them occasionally, last like year. As for next year, I think PSU bounces back but there is no evidence Mich will be better than us. OSU loses Fields and a new QB taking over is always an unknown. No reason we can’t be at least top 3 in the East but compete for better than that.
  4. 6 game losing streak to end the season when a tourney birth was in your hands. Lose or go home game and we don’t score a FG in the final 9:50. He knows he has no recruiting momentum. First game this season where fans were present and even the small mount of them were audibly booing and some chanting fire Archie. How could he actually want to stay?
  5. What’s bothered me most is the feel of this game is that Indiana was the little guy with nothing to lose and Rutgers was they way better team caught off guard, off their game, who pulls it out in the end.
  6. Hang in there folks. It’s almost over! I hope...
  7. If they're full of BS, they'll fit right in with the lot of us. Welcome, noobs.
  8. It also feels like an interim coach would have very little to no luck in the one time transfer market, which will be key for either scenario of a new coach coming in or Archie staying one more year.
  9. This sure would be nice to see. I actually have a bit of the same feeling. Unfortunately my feelings are that the playing loose and hitting shots will last for about 33-34 minutes and then we poop our pants and lose going away.
  10. Right, I would never expect him, or any AD, to come out saying they are firing their coach once the season is over. It's just interesting if he was on the topic and said they were on the same page but nothing else. It could mean a lot of things. But if they've talked and Dolson is already set on him coming back, it's a good opportunity to express more confidence in Archie leading the program than just saying they are on the same page. So if he didn't do that, it makes me think there is a good chance they page they are on is an amicable agreement to part ways. Of course, maybe it's just that I really want to believe that's the case.
  11. This is a very interesting line to use if he didn't say anything else. To my knowledge, Dolson hasn't yet come out with the dreaded public vote of confidence, right? Maybe I missed it. When he said this last night, did he add any words backing him to lead the program, or anything else expressing confidence in him? If he just left it that they are on the same page, it would seem there is an equal likelihood that they've already had the conversation and come to an amicable agreement.
  12. I don't want to rain on the Gates parade. But if he were indeed the guy, does it concern anyone that we wouldn't have any better shooting team? 2020-21: Cleveland St: FG% - 44.9, FT% - 67.2, 3pt% - 32.3 Indiana: FG% - 43.5, FT% - 67.1, 3pt% - 33.1 2019-20: Cleveland St: FG% - 41.6, FT% - 66.4, 3pt% - 29.4 Indiana: FG% - 44.5, FT% - 67.9, 3pt% - 32.6 The did improve across the board from year 1 to year 2. But watching our team shoot so poorly so often these past several years....these are not comforting numbers to look at.
  13. Mine live in Texas. And not a very easy part of Texas to get to (nowhere near a major airport). Very tough drive with 2 small kids so it's a once a year thing. They don't make a huge effort to travel here. And let me tell you.........that is juuuuuuuust fine with me.
  14. If I'm thinking of the same story, it was something to the affect that whoever attended the game thought it was weird that everyone was still sitting in their jackets very close to game time, then there was an announcement made to "come on down" where people could fill in empty seats closer to the floor. Forde also mentioned going to a Baylor/KU game just last year and fans there talking up how great the atmosphere was. He agreed but emphatically said it didn't come close to comparing to Assembly Hall for a big game.
  15. I guess you don't know many college basketball coaches? Or football coaches? Or just, coaches? I suppose it depends on your definition of success. But looking specifically at college basketball coaches, I'd guess that the overwhelming majority of them are seen as extremely hard workers. But a very significant percentage are not successful.
  16. Hello? Anybody still here? I'll preface this with the fact that I know it will not happen, but out of pure curiosity, are we thinking the only path to the tourney is now to win the BTT? Ironically, that would be the only way we end up above .500 now. Every game we play will be a quad 1 game. Would winning 2 more (one of those being Illinois) get us in at 14-15 w/ a 4-13 quad 1 record? Probably not. How about 3 more wins, finishing 15-15? I'd say that would have us sweating on selection sunday. I can't even believe it got to this point. I still can't believe Indiana has never won the BTT. Other random thought....have we ever gone 0-3 against Rutgers in a season?
  17. The second Drew is Matt’s good buddy. We’re hiring 2 guys. Matt and Drew. That’s the only thing we know about them.
  18. Give me Matt. B/c I don’t know who Matt is, and hiring someone that nobody knows might be the most exciting hire we can make!
  19. Wife suggested taking the kids to the zoo at the same time the game tipped off. I’d normally fight it or suggest tomorrow. This time I said “sure!” Beautiful day here, followed on my phone a bit, won some more money. Pretty solid day.
  20. Purdue is -7 on DraftKings, -7.5 on FanDuel. Get that emotional hedge in!!
  21. You are a super fan I simple cannot match. I did watch the last 12 minutes of Belmont / Jax st. Ended up a great game but I hated it for 2 reasons. 1.) I bet the over when it was at 141. Belmont missed a free throw with 2 seconds left. 72-69. Push. 2.) the OVC tourney was in Nashville for many years. I discovered who Ja Morant was 2 seasons ago about 3 days after Murray st played at Belmont. Then realized I had also missed him playing at TSU and at Tenn Tech. Then just assumed I’d go watch him play downtown at the OVC tourney only to realize it was now being held in Evansville, only 25 minutes where I grew up.
  22. What a shot. The defender almost knew exactly what he was gonna do. He created about 2 extra inches of space.
  23. Classic space eater. And a game in the 80s! Scoring!!
  24. I love a good vision quest. This has nothing to do with college hoops, but my company is hiring. I’ve had to look at a lot of resumes. I feel like I’ve been on my own vision quest. You wouldn’t believe how many people have experience leveraging dynamic cross-functional teams!! It’s taken everything I have to not respond saying I don’t dynamically or cross-functionally know what that means!
