  1. We are really good at defending the wide open layup. Killing them there. I think they have missed 6 so far
  2. Do you mean we should wait to fire him until after the half or that the second half will show we should keep him.
  3. Way past time. Actually time for a new thread titled why keep Crean because I am curious how anyone can believe that any more.
  4. Do you really think our offense is looking good?
  5. Just saw the BT commercial with all the BT coaches and stated to realize that Crean is one of the more tenured coaches now.
  6. Ultimately the fans drive those revenues as you have noted. The fan boy in us keeps us coming back to watch and buy gear. While our fandom runs deeper, the Pacers lost their fan base during the Tinsley post brawl years and that impacted the bottom line and even as those guys were sent away it took awhile to turn that corner. So I think you make a good point mdn82, I think IU basketball is at a similar point. Fans are tired of Crean and the IU Bball product. Most understand that we have to eat until the end of the year but if we don't greatly exceed expectations many will not accept another year. I am convinced Glass knows this and he also knows the probability of sustaining success in football is lower than it is in Bball. So you ride the football horse as long as you can and make every effort to sustain success there but you can't afford to let Bball slip away because it can be hard to get it back.
  7. I was highly disappointed after Rutgers and was convinced we needed to make a change. Wilson and the team rebounded well enough to make it to s bowl and outside of some big plays was the better team. Big plays though are part of the game but this is a program I could support and am proud to be a Hoosier fan tonight.
  8. Certainly could be. Then we have a 2 year rebuild after that. If he could have kept his rebuilds to teams like this year then all would be OK, assuming the peak exceeds sweet 16 of course.
  9. If you look at Creans history he has a peak year and a 2-3 year rebuild surrounding the peak. That is without changing jobs. So even if we stand pat and don't make a change we likely have a couple of down years after this group leaves.
  10. Ah, see I thought you were talking about Michael Lewis, the assistant coach, former Hoosier ... I would like to hear that he is becoming a great coach thus my question. The player Lewis definitely played a great game on both ends of the court against Purdue.
  11. I have not heard much about Lewis. How do you know he is a big part of their success?
  12. Along the same lines I was watching the UCLA game before ours and one of their players came to the bench after a bad pass. The bench and coaches did not stand up and high five him and celebrate his return to the bench like what happens here every time we sub. The player did not go all the way down the bench getting attaboys like here. No Alford chewed the kid out for about 30 seconds. I am tired of our teams approach to celebrated everything
  13. i don't think it is an outside kid (likely another sport already enrolled) but I thought we did have an open scholarship right now
  14. I agree. Guys like Mack show there are guys in between Crean and BS that are better. 4 sweet sixteens in 6 years. This may be the year to do even more. Yeah we expect more than a sweet sixteen but if you look that has almost become his standard, not the peak.
  15. I really think this is more about the coach than the hoosierness or Midwesterners we recruit. I do think a better coach could tighten his recruiting radius and have better results than we have had under Crean. Hard to really argue that the kids have not been a good fit when I am not convinced the coach is equipped to get the most out of them
  16. I agree. I made the same argument when we sent NZ to the media day before he even played a game. Great in the sense that we are adding leaders but it sent a clear warning as well that we were relying on guys at the end of the rotation for leadership. Difficult to get others to follow of you are not in that top 5
  17. Perhaps in the team but not in the coach.
  18. At this point Crean needs a period of exceeding expectations. Several years where we fell short gets you on the hot seat. We saw what one magical tourney run did with Davis and bought up the fools gold once. So Crean would need to exceed in the regular season, the BTT and get to at least the elite 8 to even be considered for a repeat. The chances of that happening are very low. It is a very difficult challenge but he has used up all his mulligans and needs a miracle to pull out a season that merits an encore
  19. I just really don't see the bitterness like others see. DD makes so many positive comments about IU that easily outnumber his negative ones. The negative ones repeat much of the same gripes we have and there has been much to gripe about. He makes positive and negative comments about all schools. Heck he ripped Yogi on one play and praised him on the next. He is an extremist and his job seems to reward him for that.
  20. Agree. DD was a coach on the rise until the West Virginia back out. That killed recruiting for several years and a ton of injuries wiped out any other chances. If he should want to coach again it would have to be at the mid major level and see what happens. I would not be surprised by either success or failure as the book is mixed. He came in and insisted in rebuilding the culture and the team did not want to give any effort for him. Any IU fan should be appreciative of that.
  21. It really is kind of shocking that there really are few posters who share mohobans opinion anymore. Granted this is the fire him thread but in others as well.
  22. Purdue by far the most consistent team and it is not even close
  23. Crean has never nor ever will put s leash on Yogi. TW has sat out games, has not started, gets pulled and some times sits but never with Yogi.
  24. There are more options out there than BS. Not that I would think he is ready but Butlers coach clearly has taught his team how to defend PU and he is known as an offensive coach
