Trey Galloway was our best guard last year on both ends of the floor and it wasn’t even close.
He currently projects to be the first guard off the bench.
If that doesn’t generate optimism I’m not sure what could.

OliviaPope40 reacted to RaceToTheTop in President Whitten - 2024 Faculty No Vote
Adam Herbert was the last to receive a no confidence vote at IU -- and it wasn't a formal one, but rather a straw poll of 125 factulty members.  103 voted no confidence.  Herbert resigned three months later.  The 'it would take more than 25% of the faculty to convince people that she is' awful really has not been a true statistical measure of whether a president gets removed/resigns.  Harvard University had a historical no confidence vote in the early 2000s.....with under 20% of the faculty voting and the vote was about 55/45 no confidence.  25% voting isn't a traditional low number of those voting on the measure, but 93% voting no confidence is on the extremely high end.  There are many reasons that a person would choose not to vote.  Fear of retribution is one;  feeling that the vote will not change anything or make things worse is another.  But I've been trying to find no confidence votes that would match the number of faculty that voted in IU's vote and I'm simply not finding them, so to downplay the number the voting doesn't really match up with with has happened historically.
Studies have shown that no confidence votes that do result in a no confidence result for the president are a 50/50 type of thing as to whether the president resigns/retires/is relieved of their job by the BOT.  Study below had it at 56%.

I think the big thing that is missed is that this is a pretty big Board of Trustees failure...once again.  Kathy with a C can't spin out of this factoid from the article and it shows exactly how the 'group consensus' of the board produces crap.
    -------------------
When an 18-person search committee was charged with selecting IU’s next president in 2020, they narrowed the list to four finalists — none of whom included Whitten. According to Steve Sanders, a Maurer School of Law professor who interviewed people involved with the search, the Board of Trustees rejected all four finalists and chose four new finalists externally, this time including Whitten.
    ---------------------
So in essence, here are the issues REGARDLESS of politics:
-- the search committee produces four names and the BOT chose to ignore it completely.  If you want to stay in good graces with the people you are working with, you don't simply wholeheartedly ignore their entire work.  Horrible, horrible PR and sets whoever they do hire up for an immediate adverse relationship.  Better move:  keep one or two names from the original list and add your own to a list of finalists.
--  the BOT then violated public access law by failing to produce documents in a timely manner that should have been available through the freedom of information act.
--  Part of the documents they tried to hide indicate that former president McRobbie was paid over $500,000 for 'consulting' work for Whitten in the first six months of her job.....to those involved in the original search committee, this says to them that the BOT chose to ignore candidates they recommended and chose a candidate who wasn't qualified and needed a half a million dollars worth of training.
So to me this says the no confidence vote for Whitten is really a no confidence vote in the procedures that the BOT has adopted.  Sure, there are politics at play but it goes beyond disagreement between the president and staff.

    Hoosiers win game #1 5-1.
8th win in a row and it assures us of no worse than a tie in the Governor's Cup competition.
Copeland went the distance throwing a 2 hitter, walked 3, struck out 7.  PUke scored it's lone run in the 1st and we responded with 3 of our own and never looked back.  Women had 7 hits scattered across 7 different batters; 3 of the 7 were doubles.  Benson 2 RBI.
Game #2 scheduled to start at 7:30.

An estimated 100 million people worldwide watched or listened to the verdict's announcement. Long-distance telephone call volume declined by 58 percent, and trading volume on the New York Stock Exchange decreased by 41 percent. Water usage decreased as people avoided using bathrooms. So much work stopped that the verdict cost an estimated $480 million in lost productivity.
Here's the one part of that trial I find the most interesting. I thought that the American Crime Story on this was okay but not great but the ESPN documentary is the best one of the bunch.
