  1. Those ratings aren't completely meaningless, actually they can be a pretty good guide if not 100% accurate.  Point being, if a player is ranked that low (or not at all) there's probably a reason.   I haven't seen anything of this kid, and couldn't possibly care less about YouTube highlights since they can make anyone look good, but rankings aren't meaningless.   He also had Bo Ryan, who is a heck of a coach.
  2. WWW is helping UK with their recruiting.
  3. The Purdue poster says "legendary football program".  Well more so than their basketball program maybe but still not really.
  4. Their name screams awful.
  5. With Bird I'm hesitant because I think of Nick Johnson, a 1B/DH type that can hit pretty good when healthy but is never healthy.  I'd personally be a little a more resistant to deal Refsnyder than Bird, and Refsnyder needs to work on his defense at 2B; granted, that could be me wanting to never ever ever ever see Stephen Drew or Brendan Ryan step to the plate ever again.
  6. I'm interested to see what Mateo can be, he's got nearly 70 stolen bases on the year.  Bird I'm not sure about, he can hit but he's got an injury history and he's 1B/DH type.
  7. From the Yankees they wanted a package that included Luis Severino or Aaron Judge (a 2013 first round pick already in AAA).  Apparently Severino, Judge, Greg Bird and Jorge Mateo are off limits.   As a lifelong Yankees fan, I'm glad that one was rejected.
  8. According to Heyman one deal has been rejected because of what the Phillies asked for.
  9. Their best chance was to glue him to the bench.
  10. I work in IT and we had a service ticket come in from a user at our Canada facility saying he couldn't find his IE.  I wanted to tell him that was a good thing.  IE is good for downloading better web browsers and that's about it.   Today at lunch our CIO asked why a certain user has Google Chrome, and our response was "because it's better". Adding UK doesn't count as adding a college team.
  11. I never said he wasn't, and I've said because of the sleaze factor I don't want him as coach.  All I said was that Cal is a good coach and a better coach than Crean, and if you look it up it's undeniable.   Cal had 10 conference titles and 11 top 3 conference finishes and made at least the Sweet 16 5 times, without his vacated seasons.  He finished in the top 3 more than 3 times as often as he finished 6th or lower (11 vs 3).  Before he ever got to UK.  Compared to Crean who has 2 conference titles and has finished outside the top 5 just as often as he's finished in the top 5 with 3 trips to at least the Sweet 16...in his entire career.  Cal is the better coach, and it's not particularly close.   No denying he's scum though.
  12. I've given Crean credit multiple times on this board, when I felt it was deserved. I'm just not hesitant to criticize him when it's deserved either. Yes, Calipari is a better coach. He was more successful before he got to UK than Crean has been in his entire career including IU. Head to head matchups aren't a good barometer of coaching ability; Mike Davis beat Izzo, Patino and K in the same year.
  13. If she's 17 she should know how to spell girl.  And, you know, use considerably better grammar.
  14. I hate to give the sleaze ball any credit but he's actually a pretty good coach on his own right. Ryan just happens to be a really good coach.
  15. Well we're in full agreement that we'll never see a national title with Crean. I'll go as far as to say he'll never make another Final Four, I'm fully convinced his one appearance was a total fluke.
  16. If that's true there's sure been a lot of excuses made.
  17. Especially with a coach that has never won 30.
  18. The excuses still won't stop.  We should've been saying no excuses before now.
  19. He will be too, for his allotted 5 post touches a game.
  20. Some women on the USWNT played overseas, i.e. Christen Press played for Sweden once, and said they became better players by going over there because of this.
  21. I've said it before and I'll say it again.  I've seen games between NY area teams and Indiana teams, and there was a very noticeable difference; the NY teams may have had the flash, but the IN teams had the finer points of the game down.  That doesn't mean only IN kids understand the fine point of the game (and even some IN kids don't), but when a game as big as basketball is in this state there's going to be an impact on their understanding of it.
  22. Hanner wasn't in Indiana long (or playing bball long period), he was originally in NC and teammates with Jurkin.
  23. We've put together two good seasons with Crean, even if one of them definitely under achieved.  You have to do it year after year though, not just a season or two here and there.  Problem is we're hoping a coach that hasn't done that in the better part of 20 years suddenly figures it out.
  24. Judges ruling? Yes, it looks like we have a winner. Well done.
