We really don't need to know about you catching crabs....
-
I've been thinking about getting a new rod and reel, maybe an Abu Garcia Black Max or Silver Max or go a little more expensive and get the Pro Max.
-
I think you're underrating Marshall and overrating Crean. He's more than a minor upgrade, all he's done is win and win consistently for 17 years while Crean has never won consistently in 16. I think a coach that has won his conference 9 times in 17 years is a good bit better than a coach that has only managed 2 in 16, but I'm crazy like that.
-
Then it depends which side of the fence our boosters fall on. Will they say mediocrity is unacceptable, that status quo isn't good enough, that IU can and will do better or are they content with being an also ran? Will they awaken the lion and let him remind the jackals who he is, or let him sleep while the jackals eat his food? I hope it's the former, but unfortunately I think it's the latter. If it's the latter we can forget about ever reclaiming our place among college basketball's royalty and it will have nothing to do with what the program is capable of, it'll because the decision makers don't give a crap.
-
I do think he's a pretty considerable improvement over status quo, I'll give him that.
-
I haven't seen many, if any, say Marshall is their first choice. It seems fans are saying they'd be okay with Marshall as a plan C or something along those lines. He'd be a fine choice as a third option IMO, but that's about as high as he should be.
-
Seems like he would have by now if he was going to. Last season would've been a good time to, with a good 1 and 5 he could've crafted a decent half court offense but nope he insisted on forcing a system that requires shooters when he had no shooters. I don't think he's going to suddenly change how he's done things, no. Frankly, I'm not sure he's even capable of adjusting his system to fit his personnel. He's seemed very one dimensional. More than Holt, but not a threat. Thing is though he's not taking Troy out of the starting lineup, and with the lineup he was running this year the 4 is the about the only place he could've put Troy. We've seen for 7 years Crean has what he wants to do and he doesn't deviate from it. He'll force a square peg in a round hole if he has to, he might take sand paper and turn the square peg into a round peg, but he won't change his approach.
-
Already addressed that too, won't happen. Holt will have to adjust to Crean's system, it's been that way for 7 years it won't change now.
-
To be a 4 in this system he'd need more than a mid-range, he'd have to be a threat from deep because Crean wants his 4 to stretch the floor. Without that Holt is a 5 here, the same as Hanner.
-
I remember him. He can be really abrasive, but he's a knowledgeable poster. From my experience he's pretty pleasant in PMs though. He was critical of Crean going back to the early years. Kept talking about Crean's half court offense being stagnant and how we struggle if we can't get out and run, many posters told him to wait until Crean had a roster full of his players and it'd be different, I was in that same camp at the time, but here we are after year 7 and he was right all along.
-
You can want in one hand can crap in the other and see which one fills up faster. The highlighted won't happen, period, that would require adjusting something Crean is either resistant to or incapable of. And Hanner has no business playing the 4, at all.
-
Don't know if I should laugh or cry...
-
Go full on RMK and start throwing chairs. Start with the one Glass is sitting in, then move to the one Crean is sitting in.
-
I would consider Marshall a solid double, he's been considerably more successful than Crean. But hey, if Marshall's success is just a bloop double I'll take the bloop and you can keep trying to bunt your way around the bases. He's not my first choice, he'd be no better than 3rd actually, but I'd still consider it an upgrade.
-
In 17 years he's won his conference 9 times and finished top 2 14 times, only finishing outside the top 3 twice, and has won 73% of his games. Granted in weaker conferences. If that's a "bloop double", Crean wouldn't be a double unless the outfielder was Raul Ibanez and proceeded to screw up a pop fly.
-
It'll be a couple guards plus 6-7 wings that can jump but won't be able to do much else for at least a year, 3 of them will start every game though despite jumping high being their only redeemable skill.
-
Crean loves wings. Especially if it's a wing that only has one redeemable skill, jumping. Oh, and he also loves bigs that can't do anything.
-
We'd be lucky to get that combining our top post players on any given day.
-
Kanye is a legend...in his own mind.
-
I hope the pilot is just lost. If he thought 'Boston' sounded like 'Chicago' I don't want to be on a plane he's flying. Yeah, I'd rather give Crean another extension.
-
Why wait? The way his buyout is constructed it's not a lump sum, it's paid out over 5 years and he probably wouldn't get the full 12 million. Plus I read somewhere that what he gets paid at his next coaching job is deducted from what IU would owe so IU could theoretically get out with paying only a small portion of it.
-
I gave it a like for truth.
-
It was a survey of coaches asked who they perceived as the dirtiest coach in the game, unsurprisingly the likes of Cal and Scott Drew were the leaders. Crean only got a handful of votes, like 5% that responded or something like that. Note: It asked coaches to vote for who they considered the dirtiest, not to rank their top 5, then the site that did the survey listed the top 5 vote getters.
-
Just the coaching fraternity sticking up for one of their own IMO. We have 16 years worth of evidence showing it's not true.
