If it seems like a given, why is it taking so long? -

That "long way to go" dynamic was necessary and very helpful in this case. -

Well now, let's not get all cocky about it. -
No doubt by committee no matter what. But...take a look at the complete IU rushing totals from the Allen-coached Foster Farms Bowl (and it was a close game - not a 'throw it every down' affair). I'm not seeing a lot of Williams, Natee, Gest, or Magette in there: IND - Rushing Player Att. Gain Loss Net TD Lg. Avg. Redding, Devine 17 81 9 72 1 15 4.2 Brookins, Ricky 12 60 7 53 0 20 4.4 Williams, Devonte 3 6 0 6 0 4 2.0 Diamont, Zander 1 3 0 3 0 3 3.0 Lagow, Richard 4 5 22 -17 0 5 -4.3 TOTALS 37 155 38 117 1 20 3.2

As soon as Allen took over for the bowl game, he became the leader of the RB pack. If I had to guess, I'd expect it to stay that way.

B10 Basketball Recruiting Thread
Stuhoo replied to hoosierpap's topic in Indiana Basketball Recruiting Forum
Yup, and because of a variety of factors (West Laffy, engineering/techy academic orientation, ugly @$$ uniforms, ugly @$$ campus, not exactly mecca for attractive women, Painter is a good coach but not a likeable salesman, old-fashioned offensive scheme, etc, etc) they'll never get them. The Roosevelt Barnes/Swanigan connection was the ultimate outlier, and isn't likely to be replicated anytime soon. That having been said, they better get theirs this year, because after Haas, PJ, Mathias and V Edwards leave at the end of the season, that cupboard is pretty darn bare. -

Good point, and I will stop the snarky stuff for this player. All kidding aside, I guess it's better to be skilled and out of shape than in shape and talent-less; a kid with no talent can't magically invent it, but an out of shape kid can get in shape. However, I wonder if Purdue's fanbase has expectations that every out of shape power forward that they recruit will turn into Swanigan. Swanigan was so interesting because he was the exception, not the rule. Kinda like when we would get Crean projects and expect them to be the next Victor Oladipo. The outliers are special because the norm rarely turns out that way. -

Rumor has it he can elevate enough to touch the net while in mid-air! I have more video; he recently played in the NBPA top 100 camp. Feeling a little more of the DeAndre Thomas-ey vibe in this vid: -

Recent video of Purdoo's only current committed 2018 recruit, Trevion Williams. Nice handles. 6'8" Really, really...chubby. Not "DeAndre Thomas fat", but more like "middle-aged fast food clerk chubby." https://twitter.com/a1mighty_trey23/status/895077092240576512 -

Think of it this way: A top 100, in-state bird in the hand is worth a whole bunch of "maybes" in the bush. -

Nah; they never thought they had a chance with Phinisee. With Damezi Anderson they thought they were the front runner and they melted down. Silly Purdooders! -

Take it for what it's worth, but because Robert is in West Lafayette this might have some credence: there is a poster on the Purdue board saying that Robert Phinisee to IU is "imminent". -
Preface this by stating that I am a huge Juwan Morgan fan; Juwan's defensive effort and recognition at times last year was completely subpar. Juwan Morgan and Curtis Jones really really needed a different coach, maybe more than anyone else on the roster.
-
Wow. That's pretty impressive!

Saw that and thought it is a pretty solid take. Of course, ITH is consistently excellent IMO.

No...when Time Priller goes to the dentist, he slobbers like a basset hound. When Middle School Bob goes to the dentist, the drill gets scared. Now, Tim Priller IS Middle School Bob, but it's more like a Clark Kent/Superman dynamic.

An inexperienced passing game on the road against an good and experienced defense can lead to A LOT of turnovers. The extraordinary thing is that WE are the beneficiary of that dynamic. I expect OSU to try to run the ball to establish a power game early, to take pressure off of Barrett and their new wrs. If we can stack them and wrap them early it will be really interesting. Good gawd I'd love for us to get the first points in this one.

He's a very good student who could very well have his degree after this year. Develop as a basketball player as much as possible at the college level? Check Get your degree? Check When those two checklist items are complete, it might be time to move on.

And... TOM ALLEN IS GONNA BE SO FREAKIN PSYCHED NO ONE WILL BE ABLE TO CONTROL HIM, OR US!!!!!!!!
