  1. True! Timing is everything. Thank goodness Indiana University hit the timing exactly right on a multiple generationally great coaches: Bob Knight, the single best tactician and motivator in colege basketball history, Curt Cignetti, the leader of the single most improbable and dominant season in college football history, Doc Counsilman, the greatest coach in college swimming history, and Jerry Yeagley the greatest coach in college soccer history All Hall of Famers - all extraordinary. Kudos to @AH1971 for the reminder that Indiana University and its extraordinary fanbase have the greatest record of timing and coaches of ANY university. Your infectious optimism has reminded all of us that we have so much to be grateful for, and that the current era is a big part of that success!!
  2. Dusty luvs Morez Johnson. #9 overall.
  3. Synth pop anyone? It’s kind of amazing—50 years after starting out, the Mael brothers are putting out great stuff, charting in the UK, and are still not-awkward funny and catchy as hell. Sparks. The Girl Is Crying In Her Latte:
  4. Ghana gonna getta knockout round spot. Just tied England.
  5. "The League has not conducted such a draft for several years and, prior to your submission, the League had no plans to do so this year, as no other player has sought entry. Your Petition—filed three business days before the deadline, without any supporting information or documentation, and only after abandoning your recent litigation efforts to avoid NCAA sanctions—does not provide a basis for the League to alter those plans. The issues presented by your Petition are too significant, and too closely tied to the League’s core integrity interests, to permit meaningful review within the timeline presented. The sole reasons identified in your Petition for seeking entry into the Supplemental Draft are that you have been “declared ineligible” by the NCAA, have “exhausted all of [your] avenues to continue in the NCAA,” and “want to now play in the NFL.” The Petition provides no information regarding the basis for, or timing of, the NCAA’s decision. Public sources, however, indicate that in May 2026 the NCAA issued a determination declaring you permanently ineligible from participation in college athletics, based on a sustained pattern of improper gambling activity during your collegiate career at three different universities."
  6. I don't think that IU was Dusty May's 'dream job' but I do think that the pull would have been strong and he would have been the IU Coach if the timing had been right.
  7. That's a really good point. Generally? The NBA is currently a more stable environment and has a longer downtime season than college. But each coach's professional and family situation is different. I suspect that Cooper Flagg had a fair bit to do with Dusty's decision. A ten plus year run with a bonafide future top five player on the planet is pretty compelling.
  8. Here comes Kurtis! Rourke with healthy knees? Time for the Niners to trade Mac Jones: https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/7276447/2026/05/14/kurtis-rourke-49ers-rookie-camp/
  9. Reads like we're up to 'four things can be true'. ;}
  10. So your saying that their best shooters aren't on the roster yet? That's a far easier fix than 'this roster is permanently stuck as a 6-10 seed.'
  11. If IUFB wasn't really ever DOA, then IUBB sure as hell isn't.
  12. Too angry a take for me. Sure, if Dusty wanted to be at IU he would have waited, but with no guarantee of Woodson's exit day. He was already done with FAU, the IU job was not open that year, and he got an offer that was about as good as it gets with UM. When the IU job actually opened he was not going to leave UM after one year. Also, at the point the IU job actually opened up he already understood that the college game is a mess and the NBA is a world's better gig.
  13. Occam's Razor - the most obvious, logical explanation is usually the correct one. So in this case? The year Dusty was moving up to a big time job Woodson was still at IU. After getting that big time job IU would have been a lateral move at best. The timing just didn't work. Now an NBA job came up, and with a potentially generational player as that franchise's cornerstone. And the NBA is quite simply just a better job than a major college gig, especially with the current chaotic, illogical college situation and for a guy that already reached the mountaintop as a college coach.
  14. They've been a play-in team for the last four straight years. If they can get to third in the East the trade was a great idea.
  15. A sure sign that his agent or AI did not write his acceptance for him!
  16. I watch a lot of Heat games and I think I disagree. Winning titles is all about having two or more all-league type players. The Heat now have two; Giannis and Bam. Sure, they're sorta duplicative, but still. And Giannis is 31 years old; that leaves about five more years of his prime. They gave away a good part of their 'decent team' rotation, but the only player they gave up who could truly be impactful is Kelel, and he's gonig to need significant additional development to get there. I've seen enough of Herro and Jaquez - both are having long careers in the league, but neither is a championship level player. Finding another Herro or Jaquez on the free agent market is just not that tough.
  17. Not the first time proud alum Cuban has gotten the last laugh over MeatChicken: https://www.si.com/extra-mustard/2022/10/08/indiana-grad-mark-cuban-trolls-michigan-website-purchase-nil
  18. More evidence that rankings of high school football players are predictably unpredictable. Without an AAU circuit that gives coaches an apples-to-apples comparison, evaluations are pretty difficult. In this case? He's ranked over 1,000 composite but has an extensive P4 offer list.
  19. An interesting point; I know that incoming freshmen can reopen their recruitment, but can an NIL signed portal player do the same thing? Edit: Apparently yes - they can. So JP Estrella had IU in his finalists short list. Also appears to be extremely likely that crap-@$$ former Okla St head coach Mike Boynton (who had a 51-75 Big 12 conf record), a current Dusty assistant, will run the team this coming season.
  20. Do any freshman OLinemen get any notable NIL? Not sure about that. To me Kurtis Rourke was the ultimate moneyball Cignetti play. A culture-setting top ten Heisman QB for a MAC star price.
  21. The greatest Hoosier alum booster ever. Keep opening that path to the top for your alma mater brother Cuban.
  22. Track and field? Okay - he likely shot puts - not a big deal. But lacrosse? That's a speed/quickness/movement sport, and wrestling? That's a balance and quick hands sport. All of this is good.
