Hey AZ; you know what is likely more common from Archie’s first year? Lots and lots of posters said “It’s too early to tell” and were thereafter labeled sunshine pumpers. Same thing that many said during Todd Golden and Hurley’s terrible first year. And the same thing many concluded during Woodson’s first season.

Unranked, but about to be ranked. Stacking P4 offers from the Midwest. When you are the national champs and in early? Every other team is thinking “crap.”

They were guessing back when the ink was barely dry on his contract. Turns out they were right, but they were guessing. And after Woody years one and two, almost everyone had backed off and considered initial returns to be positive. So we’re guessing about Devries being a success currently, just like we were two weeks ago about him being a failure. Patience and perspective is a better mindset methinks.

I was one of the wiling to entertain it. Clearly there were better choices, and we have one of them.
