Wilt is a 7’2” Olympic track athlete level basketball player. I’m glad this thread got started-not as obvious as it might initially seem.

A ‘slow season’ topic for debate: Attached below is a 27 minute highlight video of an NBA finals game between the Warriors (Wilt Chamberlain in his absolute prime) and the Celtics (Russell, Havlichek, S Jones, KC Jones). So here’s the topic for debate: if either of these teams played last season’s Indiana Hoosiers - modern rules, who would win and why?

I was thinking a multi-billion dollar grant to the Qatari government, but yes. -

Beauty Land by Greg Mendez came out today. Simple, fragile, and so, so good. Been waiting for this one; it's going to be played a whole lot.

Agree, but on the other hand, as pervasively messy as college sports have gotten, Congressional action seems like it may be the only path to improvement. Generally, this is the kind of issue that Congress can effectively act on because of its non-partisan nature. I could see a bill introdcued with sponsors from both parties. The problem will be if a non-partisan stand-alone bill gets pork projects snuck attached to it, and then gets nuked because of that. -
That was simply a badly missed call—probably a flagrant. Different thing than the flopalopolous monster forgive my mediocre memory; isn’t there currently a “technical foul for flopping” rule in college?

A Knicks/Thunder final would be such a must watch, especially if the Knicks get a questionable whistle in MSG. NBA refs are as confident as sports refs can possibly be, but I'm betting that even they can be influenced by an MSG finals crowd. And fwiw, the cutural floppabilityness of the Thunder is real, but I was fine with McLain feeling someone on his back and putting the brakes on to draw a foul. That time the contact was real and it just seemed like a heady play.

(2027) RB Da’Jon Talley-Rhodes to INDIANA

Yes. We have one true freshman that our staff said nice things about, and both Khobie and Turbo have multiple years of eligibility. I'm thinking we will not - the room is getting full with multi-year players. -
Fears is a truckload better than Shelstad for the same price. I also suspect that Shelstad is a truckload better than Zoom Diallo for the same price.

Appreciate the local insight you have for this player! It is a pretty perfect situation for him; He gets to be close to home, Transfers to one of the very few programs where there is no dropoff in accomplishment compared to Miami, and Plugs in at one of the VERY few places that Cig and staff are willing to start someone that is inexperienced. The staff must like either him (or maybe Barker/Thiry) a ton to leave that position to a young player.

I just cannot imagine, with the extraordinary defense we're bringing back, how it will feel to be down three or four touchdowns to us in the third quarter when we bring in our current third string running back, the guy that was even in competition for playing time last year with Kaelon; Lee Beebe Jr.

5'10.5", 210 for a running back. That's prototypical IU bellcow running back size. #478 national composite recruit. Really good get. https://247sports.com/player/dajon-rhodes-46158176/ -
This. Four years with at least 30 games played in every season.

This thread has been down this road before. Coming across this video gave me the impression that in the history of rock/punk there may be a grand total of zero recorded live performances better than the MC5 playing Kick Out the Jams in 1970. And maybe no better duo of guitarists ever on the same stage as Wayne Kramer and Fred Sonic Smith. Good lord:

The Knicks shoot 56% from the floor in game three. Atkinson attributes it to “the Knicks outperforming analytical expectations.” I attribute it to “shitty defense.”

All because John Starks pissed you off 30 years ago? Damn, that’s some impressive work by Starks.
