IUWBB 2016 Recruiting Class

Recommended Posts

4 commitments for 2016-2017 signed NLOI today - Alex McCarthy report.  The 4th recruit must be in the witness protection program as Alex failed to mention her by name.

The Indiana women's basketball program inked four new members Wednesday, the program announced. Three are out of high school and one is a junior college addition. With information from IU Athletics, we've compiled the following tidbits about each signee.

Darby Foresman

Height: 6-foot-3

Position: Forward

School: Indianapolis Heritage Christian

Key statistics: Averaged 8.4 points and six rebounds as a junior, and 11.3 points and 5.5 rebounds as a sophomore. Heritage Christian won the state title both seasons. ESPN and ProspectsNation both list her as a 4-star prospect. ProspectsNation has her ranked as the No. 9 post prospect, and ESPN has her at No. 11 at her position in the class.

Teri Moren's thoughts: "It is always a priority for us to look for the best players in Indiana. We got one of the most complete players with Darby. She gives us great size with a lot of versatility. She has the ability to score with her back to the basket, while also being able to shoot from the perimeter and drive to the basket. Darby's greatest assets are her defense and rebounding. This summer, she guarded some of the best players in the country, both perimeter and post players."

Ria Gulley

Height: 5-foot-9

Position: Guard

School: San Antonio (Texas) Tom C. Clark High

Key statistics: Averaged 11.5 points and 3.4 assists per game as a junior while shooting 49 percent from the floor. Gulley is rated as a 3.5-star prospect in the 2016 class by JumpOffPlus and a 3-star player by both ESPN and ProspectsNation.

Teri Moren's thoughts: "Ria is one of the most underrated players in the country. Her combination of quickness and shooting ability give her the potential to be one of the best guards in the Big Ten. Ria has a really good change of pace that allows her to get to the rim. She also has 3-point range, which makes her very difficult to guard. Ria has the ability to be a great perimeter defender who can guard multiple positions."

Bre Wickware

Height: 6-foot-1

Position: Wing/forward

School: Denton (Texas) Guyer

Key statistics: Averaged 15.7 points and 10.2 rebounds per game as a junior, and has been named to the All-District Team all three years of her career. Wickware is rated a 3.5-star prospect by ProspectsNation and a 3-star recruit by both ESPN and JumpOffPlus.

Teri Moren's thoughts: "Bre has played with and against the best players in the country. Her experience with the DFW program will allow her to come in and compete for playing time right away. Bre has exceptional length. She is one of the toughest and most competitive players that we saw all summer. Bre has the ability to play on the perimeter or in the post. She is continuing to develop her range which will make her a very good wing player for us."

Height: 6-foot

Position: Forward

School: Crowley (Texas) Hill College

Key statistics: At her first season at Hill, averaged 8.8 points and 5.9 rebounds per game while shooting 55 percent. She played in 22 games as the team reached the semifinals of the Region V Tournament.

Teri Moren's thoughts: "Bailey brings us experience to the forward position. She is a hard-nosed competitive player. She has a lot of the intangibles that we stress in our program, such as her ability to talk on the floor and her toughness. Bailey has demonstrated the desire to be a great defensive player at every level she has played. She wants the role of guarding the other team's best player."
