I respect Gard being in the discussion. He has done an amazing job, however is it different than what Mike Davis did with Bob Knight's team? Gard's players have been recruited, coached, and seasoned by Bo Ryan, just sayin.

I think Gard's situation is a lot different than Davis'.  Davis started with two All Americans on the team: Jefferies and Haston.  Gard's best player is Hayes, and he certainly is not AA.

I think another big difference is that Davis had the full season with the team.  Knight was fired before the season started.  Gard took over 1/2 way through the season, and the Badgers had been awful to that point. 

It is yet to be seen what kind of success Gard will have.  Heck, he may not even be the coach next year....

It might be somewhat different but that argument doesn't make me think Gard deserves it any more.
