That makes sense. It's just hard for me to look at it through other eyes because I'm going to be buying football and basketball regardless, so this just makes it more convenient for me personally. Maybe they could lower the price and say "buy basketball and get football free"...??

Right on, after all, they attract a heck of a lot of students to watch minor sports like volleyball with free student admission. That way, the fans you get there are into what's happening, and are more likely to stay and watch the entire contest. Nothing more discouraging to an athlete than to see fans leave very early in a game.

Where is he going? The trustees just stated how great of a job they think he's doing. He's not going to quit.


He is going to... Keep living in Bloomington. Leveraging a "product" consumers want (basketball) to leverage sales of a lesser known product (football) in hopes of turning those product 1 fans into product 2 fans is selling 101.

It's a genius move in my opinion. And as long as IU basketball student tickets sell out, there is no reason to ever change it.
