Foreign trip this year?

Recommended Posts

""One thing we're exploring is taking a foreign trip. We haven't done it here yet. We've saved it. And if I had to do all over again, we'd have done one last year.

"I think we're definitely looking at doing one this year. You've just got to keep taking every step you can. We're going to explore the team building you can do, the leadership training that you can do that the NCAA allows you to do."

I kind of like the idea.

A couple of years ago U of L took one and channel 11, the local ABC station that carries all of their non national games, broadcast the games from the trip. If we do go I would love for BTN to let a crew tag along. I know that is unlikely but I can dream. UL's trip was to Canada so I am sure that would be easier to broadcast than say Istanbul.

Isn't there a rule now that if you take one of these trips you can't play in a preseason tournament that coming season? I may be confusing this with something else.

I know you can only take one every five years. Our last one was Eric Gordon's season. See how I used him as the reference point and not the coach at the time. :-)

PJ, not trying to be a correct you nazi and I'd never have known but it's 4 years

No problem.  Thanks for letting me know.  Now that I think about it, 4 years comes back to me.  I was getting it mixed up with something else.  I think the five year thing applies to Maui and the pre-season NIT, or at least it used to.

I traveled to the Bahamas to watch the prior trip...  There's nothing like getting extremely excited about a team in the pre, pre-season to later be shockingly disappointed.

If they don't go somewhere sucky this year, hopefully I can follow them again.  If the quality of the opponents is similar to what I saw in the Bahamas, though, Hanner will probably average a quadruple double.
