Who is this year's Victor Oladipo?

Recommended Posts

I was sitting around this summer in some of my spare time keeping tabs on Sheehey and Yogi as they were competing across the basketball landscape and I began thinking which one of them is going to be the unsung leader of this year's IUBB squad.  My heart says Yogi, but my mind says Sheehey.  Will has the tenacity and swagger about him that I saw in some of Vic's time on the court last year.  Nothing made me smile more than watching Will Sheehey flex to the Purdue crowd in a hostile Mackey Arena.  But Yogi is the point guard, he was a starter as a Frosh, so he's supposed to be the natural leader right?  Either way it goes I think the new faces of IUBB are in great hands.  I mean what do you guys think? Hopefully those two can make this year's team just as good if not better as last year's.

It's definitely easy to isolate those two players as the leaders. If push came to shove, I would say Yogi will step up. Now that I have said that... I HOPE Sheehey is the guy. He has shown great spurts throughout his career and if he just piece it all together like VO did last year it will equal GREAT things for IU. Sheehey has the game, he just needs to push his game and I think if he does that, he could find himself in the league next year. (It'll take a big push, but he can do it IMO)

This years squad is in good hands with Will & Yogi but it takes time to accumulate the skills Vic had, even for him. We may never see the likes of an Oladipo again. Every team is different and the same if that makes any sense. A basketball puzzle in which its Coach Crean hands to figure out. With that said there may never be another Oladipo but then again there has never been another Bailey, Henderson, Cheaney, Graham, Evans, Jefferies, Gordan, White or others. Just keep calm & stay the course, coaches always have a game plan.

In my opinion, either Yogi or Sheehey can be 15 ppg scorers this year. Both are extremely athletic, competitive, and hard-working. It'll be fun to see who takes the reins as THE guy, and who takes the 1a leadership role.
