The Lampley sisters are state champions from WISH-TV

Lawrence Central High School girls basketball capped off its historic season the way it wanted to on Saturday night.

The Bears (30-1) beat Lake Central (26-5) by the final of 55-28 in the IHSAA 4A State Championship Game inside Gainbridge Fieldhouse.

The 28 points allowed are the fewest points ever allowed by a team in the IHSAA 4A State Championship Game.

Jaylah Lampley led the Bears with 19 points in the victory. She also had 9 rebounds.

Lola Lampley and Aniyah McKenzie each had 12 points for Lawrence Central.

Lawrence Central began pulling away for good in the second quarter, when they went into halftime on a 19-0 run. Ultimately, the Bears led 23-11 at halftime and never gave up their lead in the second half.

The Bears dominated the glass, outrebounding the Indians 39-19. That led to 23 second-chance points for the Bears.

Lake Central was led by Vanessa Wimberly, who finished with 14 points.

The Bears may only have had one loss during the entire season, but they were undefeated against schools in Indiana. Their lone loss was against George Rogers Clark (Ky.) in early December.

Lawrence Central is only the third team in IHSAA history to have 30 wins in a season. According to a game recap from the IHSAA, the only other 30-game winners in state history are 3A Princeton (2015) and 4A Ben Davis (2009).
