#IUWS 2017 Signing Day Central

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Indiana Women's Soccer head coach Amy Berbary announced the program's 2017 signing class on Wednesday, with eight inking National Letters of Intent to join the team. Those high school seniors will join Bethany Kopel, who graduated a semester early and is currently enrolled at Indiana.

"This class is an extremely talented and dynamic group," said Berbary. "We have a number of different positions and styles of play coming in to our already established framework. Not only are these players talented on the field, they all bring an extreme work ethic and dedication to the classroom, which is something that is an absolute must to join this program. We're really looking forward to seeing what these new Hoosiers can bring to the table."

The group of nine total signees comes to Indiana from six different states, as well as Canada and Hungary. Of those from the United States, the class includes four from Region II (Indiana, Illinois, Michigan and Ohio), two from Region IV (California and Colorado) and one signee from Region I (New York).

"Our staff is committed to finding the best players within our region, as well as nationally and internationally," said Berbary. "I believe with this class, spread from coast to coast and around the world, we have done just that. In doing so, the different cultures, personalities and styles of play will help our team continue to compete towards a Big Ten Championship, as well as reaching the NCAA Tournament."

Here's a look at the signees, in the order that their NLI's were received:

Berbary recently completed her fourth season at Indiana, leading the team to its best overall and conference record and first Big Ten Tournament appearance since 2013.

In her first year, the Hoosiers advanced to the Second Round of the NCAA Tournament with a 15-7-1 mark, setting program records in victories, goals scored, assists and shutouts. During her tenure, Berbary has coached two NSCAA All-Region picks, two All-Big Ten selections and 59 Academic All-Big Ten honorees. The team has won the NSCAA Team Academic Award in every season, as well as four Herbert Cups, given to the Indiana team with the highest semester GPA.

Pretty cool. I don't know the family, but this is the same school district we are in and where my kids will go to high school when old enough. They are soccer and fball nuts around here. Having grown up in Indiana, I didn't know there were other high school sports besides . I joke, I joke.
