  1. Absolutely. He's up and coming. I won't be surprised at all to see him as a HC at some point. I firmly believed when he got to IU it was to get experience he needed to become an OC in the NFL. He was co-OC/lead QB coach going from a pass game consultant/quality control qb assistant. I knew he had ties to the Tampa OC and was not surprised at all that he left. I figured if he stayed, he was only one more year as a rental until he left to go back to the NFL. I would be shocked if Cig did not know that when he was hired what his goals were. College football is a grind with recruiting, the portal, and dealing with 18-22 year olds. If you are coming from the NFL, it's likely you either are coming to gain experience or you weren't as successful and decided you would go back to college to have more success. I am waiting for Matt Patricia and Arthur Smith at OSU to jump back to the NFL. They won't be long at OSU when the right opportunity comes calling.
  2. I do listen to them regularly. It's a good podcast and this one is a good listen.
  3. Agreed. I don't think Cig views Tino as an upgrade. I've said it before but if you listen to one of Fernando's interviews he talks about crediting Whitmer with bringing in a weekly process that Whitmer got from Herbert that was Drew Brees process. He and Alberto mentioned how helpful that was in growing this season. Tino had no ill will from Cig when he left. Tino developed several qbs for Cig at JMU and Roarke at IU. I am sure since Tino was available and he knows the processes/is proven, it was a no brainer. I personally believe Whitmer was a bit of an upgrade from Tino. That doesn't take away from Tino but I am sure there are things Whitmer has taken from the NFL that were fresh and beneficial that hopefully Cig can continue using with his QBs going forward.
  4. I feel the same way. If you listen to Fernando talk in interviews about Whitmer he brought some processes that were not in place prior that both Fernando and Alberto benefited from. Hopefully Cig keeps going with that under Hoover and has Tino seamlessly plug in the same routines. I would be shocked if even Cig didn’t have a clue that Whitmer was only here short term. I thought when he was brought in this was likely for him to gain experience as co-oc and head qb coach since he was an asst qb coach prior. Whitmer is up and coming. Id guess he will have an OC job in the next few years and at some point somewhere become at HC.
  5. Have the same question. Will be very interesting to see the hire? Have to imagine Cig knew this was coming so he’s prepared and has a plan in place.
  6. It will be interesting to see if he stays committed if others start to come after him. Likely depends on who is in his ear around him.
  7. Agreed. I’m in NWI. Will have to try and catch him playing in the fall.
  8. I thought I read Fickell let Bostad go when he came in and Allen hired him on? Either way their loss was our gain. Thankfully he wanted to stay when Cig came in. I’m quite certain Cig knows Bostads value. I saw the interview that he said he saw Bostad was on staff and immediately reached out to see if he would stay on. Bostad is elite and would be as big of a loss as anyone on our staff.
  9. I’m sure this was always a stepping stone. He came from the NFL. He’s likely got aspirations to be an OC. He was an asst qb coach prior to coming to IU. He took the year got experience as the main QB coach and co offensive coordinator. If he isn’t gone this cycle and develops Hoover into a superstar then he will be gone next season. I saw him and Cig disagree a few times during the season. I doubt it was much more than Cig being Cig in the heat of the game. Whitmer will be a big loss when he leaves. I do think he likely brought some things in that Cig will continue with even after hiring the next QB coach. I’d be shocked if Tino isn’t waiting in the wings to come back.
  10. HS recruiting is such a joke anymore. They commit and decommit as often as they change underwear. I don't even take the commitment very serious until they actually sign and start classes. It's a sad state of affairs when it comes to these high school guys. I almost feel like they commit to the first high major school that offers to see what other offers that brings to see if they can get better. Idk what would be better than being a part of a national championship winning level program but hey if you want to go to Nebraska instead more power to you. There will be others that want the spot.
  11. Going to miss this team. What a great group they were. Their leadership will be sorely missed next year.
  12. That's what a lot of people seem to be saying about the situation but it all could be talk from fans that hope he comes back.
  13. I watched him at ND. My wife was raised ND football. Not a fan myself but Coogs was a player I loved to watch so when I heard they pushed him out, I was really hoping he would be a Hoosier. He was one of the most important pieces added to make this run. His leadership was second to none. I will really miss seeing him, Aidan, Elijah, and Riley. They embodied all that this team was about.
  14. This is what I’ve been wondering about. Nowakowski is a huge piece of our offense and loss. His leadership and willingness to do it all cannot be understated. Will be very interesting to see if we bring in anyone else from the portal.
  15. Other board had the rumor about UK. I think Twitter has had some rumblings about UT (I think imo it may stem from a post Charlie wrote to Derek about coming to be a little vol that’s me guessing). Still waiting to hear on Lynch with Texas as well.
  16. I was wondering the same thing. I know UK was sniffing around with a bag of $$ but I really wouldn’t be surprised to see UT go after him and others given our S/C coach can reach out to the players.
  17. Rumors other teams trying to poach him with $$$
  18. I’m expecting that unfortunately. Are you hearing anyone in particular?
  19. Me too. He’s an underrated part of the offense. Horton was that guy the year before. Really think it’s a key position that needs to be filled unless there’s a young guy on the rise they think can do it.
  20. Even if they enter, paperwork has to be processed so we may not hear anything until after the weekend. Hoping to go unscathed too much. Also really haven’t heard of many additions or portal guys coming in. Still think we have some holes to fill. Sucks the spring portal is no more.
  21. Wondering if the couple guys that stayed will remain on staff. Whether they chose to stay or Owings didn’t take them, I’m sure it’s good to have some continuity.
  22. He had a foot out the door last year until he got more money. I guess at some point you have to roll the dice if someone is consistently looking to leave. Cig was in interviews even yesterday giving his s&c staff credit and it appears they are all gone today.
  23. I love Coogan (one of my favorites of the year) but it looks and sounds like he was up celebrating too much lol maybe he should have skipped the press conference and slept it off.
  24. Also need to pay some other key guys like Bostad, Whitmer, and Kuntz. I’m sure Cig has some type of plan in place. It was being said he’s had one foot out the door since the USC offer last year and possibly NFL aspirations. Maybe he felt he could do more in the SEC or would get more recognition from training more 5 star players. $$ were clearly a factor as well.
